When the Dragon Akademie orders an unwarranted execution of two slayers, Kaliyah is shocked by the revelation of their corrupt rule. Seeking vengeance for her mother, she forges an alliance with Ryu. With dangerous lies uncovered at every turn, Kaliyah and Ryu's worlds converge, stoking the flames between them. But one dark secret they both share could rip them apart...if it doesn't destroy Kaliyah first.

What I liked:
Fireheart is a beautiful journey of a girl discovering her past and what it means for her future. Is she meant to be the dragon-slaying soldier she was born to be? Or something more? And what lengths will she go to to find herself and protect the ones she loves. I felt that world-building was lacking in that we know it is a military school and that a war has been brewing between humans and dragons, but I have no idea how this came about. Our main character is fiercely independent and determined to seek vengeance for her mother, but along the way, her world gets shaken to the core, and some hard choices must be made.
Final Verdict:
I would recommend this for anyone who wants to try out a new author, who likes surprising plot twists, and, of course, if you like dragons.
