The Thames river is well-known and is located in Britain, but not many people know the history of it. LIFE ON THE THAMES gives the reader insight to the animals who live on the river and what it does to help improve society. There are ducks, otters, wagtails, snakes, and so much more. There are also a lot of fish and insects that Thames homes. Thames has done a lot for London and the history behind everything is fascinating. People even mudlark along the river's edge and this allows them to find their own piece of London history.

The illustrations are watercolor style with using bright colors and shading to make the details stand out. In the back of the book, the author goes into detail of the threats to Thames and what we can do to help keep it safe. LIFE ON THE THAMES starts at the beginning of the river and takes us on the full journey until it ends at the North Sea. Before this book, I had heard of Thames River, but didn't really know much about it. This is a great eye-opener and makes me want to travel to London to see it.

Final Verdict: I would recommend this to children who enjoy reading about history and learning about other parts of the world. It would also be a nice addiction for world history classrooms.
