Boys don't keep diaries—or do they?

The launch of an exciting and innovatively illustrated new series narrated by an unforgettable kid every family can relate to

It's a new school year, and Greg Heffley finds himself thrust into middle school, where undersized weaklings share the hallways with kids who are taller, meaner, and already shaving. The hazards of growing up before you're ready are uniquely revealed through words and drawings as Greg records them in his diary.

In book one of this debut series, Greg is happy to have Rowley, his sidekick, along for the ride. But when Rowley's star starts to rise, Greg tries to use his best friend's newfound popularity to his own advantage, kicking off a chain of events that will test their friendship in hilarious fashion.

Author/illustrator Jeff Kinney recalls the growing pains of school life and introduces a new kind of hero who epitomizes the challenges of being a kid. As Greg says in his diary, “Just don't expect me to be all `Dear Diary' this and `Dear Diary' that.” Luckily for us, what Greg Heffley says he won't do and what he actually does are two very different things.

Since its launch in May 2004 on Funbrain.com, the Web version of Diary of a Wimpy Kid has been viewed by 20 million unique online readers. This year, it is averaging 70,000 readers a day.

“I’ll be famous one day, but for now I’m stuck in middle school with a bunch of morons.” That is a great quote from Jeff Kinney from his book, “Diary of a Wimpy Kid.” “ Diary of a Wimpy Kid“ is definitely worth reading. It is a classic. Kinney put some funny stuff in this book.
The main character is Greg Heffley. He is a teenager who is kind of a sissy. His mom bought him a diary and he writes down everything that happens in it. The book is made from parts of his diary. Greg has a best friend named Rowley. They live near each other and they hang out nearly every day. Then one day Rowley and Greg aren’t friends anymore. They are not friends anymore because Greg breaks Rowley’s arm. But eventually they become friends again.
You should read this book if you want a good laugh. This book is very entertaining. It relates to my life in many ways. It is long but you will like it so you will fly through it. You should read this book.

I finally decided to pick up a copy of “Diary of a Wimpy Kid” to see what all the fuss is about. After reading Jeff Kinney’s first book in the series, I discovered it's because it's just so relatable. Kinney expertly points out the humor in the everyday life of a middle schooler. I loved it!
Good Points
Relatable experiences for young readers.
A protagonist that's more endearingly awkward than wimpy.

I'll be famous one day, but for now I'm stuck in high school with a bunch of morons. Being a kid can really stink. And no one knows this better than Greg Heffley, who finds himself thrust into high school, where undersized weaklings share the hallways with kids who are taller, meaner, and already shaving. Luckily Greg has his best friend and sidekick, Rowley. But when Rowley's popularity starts to rise, it kicks off a chain of events that will test their friendship in a hilarious fashion.

this book is so funny, in some parts I actually laughed out loud. It is a nice, easy read with tons of comedy. Girls and boys should so read it!!!

While just entering Middle School, Greg has just a plane simple, normal life. Not popular, nor a geek, but not known by many people. He goes through thick and thin throughout the year and learns a lot about who his true friends are as well as who aren't. Also, he finds out life isn't as easy as people say. There will eventually be fights and relationships and is prepared to take it on for the future. This book is mainly about his life and how things are unfair to him. Personally, i recommend this to people who need to read a book quick since it's not hard to read at all and takes a short amount of time. It isn't all that great, but can get assignments done in a flash.

Diary of a Wimpy Kid   by Gerald Scott

You should read Diary of a Wimpy Kid (the whole series) by Jeff Kinney.  It is one of the best books ever!!  Its really awesome!  Its so awesome; youll have to read it twice, or MORE.

I would recommend it because it is for boys and girls.  Its about a teenage boy who is in middle school trying to get out alive.  He has only one friend named Rowley who does not act his age.  Instead he acts ten years younger

The main character is Greg Hefley.  He is a small wanttobefamous kid.  He constantly tries to rank himself higher than seventy on the popularity chain, but just keeps going down.

If you want a fun filled adventure through this middle school and see what happens you need to read this book.  Just try it.

Stole this book from my younger brother who is in love with the series and was excited about the movie. It was a good book for readers who enjoy books with pictures but me i was really enjoying whole comic book like feel. Bascially every boy around the age for 10 to 13 can relate to this book, the charaters will remind them of their friends and themselves. I would recommend parents with young boys who are just getting into middle school to give them this book and also those who are looking for something quick to read that will make you giggle.

I read this book as just something fun and quick to read. My younger brother was reading it and showing me EVERY single part that he enjoyed, so I decided 'Why don't I just read it?' I started it and read about half of it before I did anything else. I just loved the humor in it. It made me actually laugh out loud at some points.

I think this book if a fun read, especially if you are have a bad day! It's fast and easy to read in about a day. I would give it 4 stars

Diary of the Wimpy Kid breaks the rules that writers are taught about plotting. The book basically has little plot, yet I found myself wanting to turn the pages. I repeatedly laughed out loud at the antics of Gregory, a not so nice tween, and his only friend. The drawings are darling, but beware of the "cheese touch." The voice perfectly captures the tone of a middle schooler.

Diary of a wimpy kid

First of all this is not a diary! This book really isnt about princesses its actually a journal! So dont except this book to be all dear diary! The second thing is that hes not the type of guy whos a girls dream; hes the type of guy, whos in the background. The only thing he could impress a girl is by his video game skills and smarts. But no girls interested in that.

You might think this is a boring book by the title.

But its not, as you read this New York

Best Time-seller youll laugh your guts out.

WARNING: this book may contain too much comedy!!!

Jeff Kinney has also included many hilarious drawings as well.

This book is about a mixture of comedy and when friends dont workout.

You will see an inside life of a wimpy kid, and his point, of views and problems at school.

LOVED IT!  I laughed out loud during most of the book.  It is just so spot on!  Poor Greg is just trying to get through middle school (a living nightmare, in my opinion and experience) but things just keep getting in his way.  Hilarious things!  And I loved the drawings.  It makes the book a complete package!  Even though the character is younger, I think all teens would enjoy this book.  You can apply the same principles to high school that Greg learns in middle school.  I would recommend this book to everyone, adults and teens.  I can't wait to read the next book!
