A teen girl must fight the evil within.

It's been three months since Casey fought and survived a harrowing ordeal with a cold-blooded serial killer. No one expected her to bounce back right away, but Casey’s agonizing recovery is riddled with more than trauma. She should be getting on with her life, returning to school, enjoying parties, and maybe even kindling a new romance, but none of that is possible when she’s tortured by the memories of what happened inside the waiting mortuary.

With rage-filled thoughts and nighttime terrors threatening to destroy her, Casey thinks her therapist might be right. She must deal with the past. She teams up with a boy she just met and the two decide to return to the old funeral home to find the truth of who she really is and the evil she may have brought back with her from last summer.

Caught in a maze of what’s real and imagined, Casey will be forced to pull apart everything she knows to uncover who she can trust and who is behind a new string of murders that have hit Westport.

Can Casey defeat her inner demons to discover the truth? Or will what she finds destroy her?

Don’t miss VIGIL BLACK, the second book of The Waiting Mortuary series by L.V. Pires. If you like Darcy Coates, Jeremy Bates, or Jeff Strand then this horror novel will have you turning the pages!

Another chilling story from L.V. Pires. This one started out with the main character from Book 1, Casey, fighting an uphill battle for her mental health. With a cast of unreliable characters surrounding her, there's no telling who is actually doing the killing until the very last pages. I was on the edge of my seat the whole time. Looking forward to Book 3 in the series.
Good Points
Great plot
Tons of twists and turns
Haunting setting
Mysterious characters
