Evermore (The Immortals #1)
User reviews
Evermore is a Fabulous book!!! Ever, the main character, has such a deep and dark blend of emotions that have you hooked from the first scene! Ever has a story that has never ever been told before, and it is one that you will deeply enjoy and want to hear more of! Not to mention Damen... he is completely the dark and mysterious guy you imagin!
This book is very sweet and proves what true love really means! It will have you lifted off your feet from the romance but also at the edge of your seat with fright!
In Evermore Alyson Noel has woven an enticing beginning to her the immortals series. The main protag's name, Ever Bloom*, is beautiful and original, and makes an interesting play-on. The relationship between Ever and Damen progressed a little too quickly in the beginning, going from I-definitely-don't-have-a-thing-for-him to BAM! I'm-irrevocably-in-love-with-him, but this doesn't stand out glaringly, due to Noel's beautiful storytelling style.
Diction choice was eloquent and flowed beautifully, especially with those descriptions coming in groups of three. The concept behind the story was intriguing, and it was a new take on common YA themes. Characterization was very well done; Ever is real and dimensional, suffering in silence and just wanting an escape from the angst of her life experience at such a tender age. The besties Haven and Miles were interesting personas, quircky but endearing. The "magical" characters were relatively good, but there were facets that were slightly shallow and uncredible. The tie-ins to history were nicely inserted, and rooted the story more firmly in realism.
Summerland was a beautiful idea. Noel has crafted quite the introduction to her immortals saga, and it's no wonder that Evermore has cracked bestseller lists. Evermore is a wonderful urban fantasy/paranormal romance read that will be enjoyed by many teenage female fans, if current trends are accurately predictive. I'm definitely going to be checking out the sequel, Blue Moon (August 2009).
Evermore is about a girl who looses her family in a car crash that she feels guilty for. She is moved from her hometown of rain and cooler weather, to sunny California. Her life transforms from her being the popular cheerleader with the hottest boy in the school, to an outcast that always wears hoodies with her ipod that can hear other peoples thoughts and see their auras. But all that changes again when Damen Auguste becomes a new student.
This book puts a new twist on the word immortal. It is a great read that keeps you wanting more. I read this book in one day easy, you never want to put it down. While similar to many vampire novels, this book has romance, anger, confusion and action.
Evermore is about 17-year-old Ever Bloom. Not only is she an orphan, but she's a psychic. After a tragic accident claims the life of her family and almost hers, Ever is sent to live with her aunt in California, where she befriends two social outcasts. But when a new guys shows up at school, Ever finds herself drawn in by him. When she looks into his eyes, everything is silent. But he's not who she thought he was.
We get to join Ever on her journey of self-discovery and life altering decisions. This book is a must read for those who like to be taken on a journey into the unknown. You get to enter a whole new world, and learn it as Ever does. I give this book a 5 out of 5 and I'd recommend it to anyone who likes to be taken on a journey.
First off it is one of the best books I've read in a long time. This is not your run of the mill YA book, it is fresh new take on fantasy. Ever is a great character you are instantly drawn to her, you want to know who she is and why she is the way she is. Damon is a great secondary character. He is the boy we all want to fall in love with. He is not just HOT but also caring, compassionate, and there is just something that draws you to him. Ever is faced with a choice of a lifetime (literally). You also get to meet Ever's sister, Riley, who is recently decesed, to keep Ever company when she moves to a new city. This is a great book if you want to get away from the vampire fad. I was greatly impressed with Mrs. Noel's writing.
This book was in one word amazing. It had different elements that made for a smooth, well thought out plotline. The mysterious Damen will leave you breathless and the confused and slighty depressed Ever will leave you questioning. The only bads to this book would be how the end plays out but knowing that there's a sequel, it won't be long until the background story picks up. I enjoyed the break from all the vampire hysteria going around however there's a bit of supernatural spunk with bits about love , life , and friendship. I suggest this to anyone, it;s easy to read and enjoyable.
After a tragic accident takes the lives of her family, sixteen year old Ever can see peoples auras, know a life story by touching someone and hear peoples thoughts. Ever goes out of her way to avoid people. Even if she brushes up next to someone she will know stuff she didnt want to know. But everything suddenly changes when Ever meets Damen Aguste. Damen is gorgeous and wealthy. He is the only person that when they touch, Ever hears nothings. He also doesnt have an aura. He also keeps giving her tulips and giving other people white rose buds. She wants the roses but Damen wont give then to her because there is a reason. Ever has no idea of who or what Damen is. She wants to know because he is mysterious. But all she can do is be deeply and helplessly in love with him. But there is a danger. Is it a chance that Ever is willing to take?????
This is book was amazing. Alyson Noëls writing makes the impossible, possible. Being physic might be true, but being what Damen and Ever were, are, and will be is impossible. You get sucked into the book quickly. I just could not stop reading. I would read the book early in the morning to late at night. This book was great. This book is for grades 6-9. Ages 12-16.
