There’s much for her to learn at the Paladin Academy, a school for her kind. What her kind is she would like to know. And who better to teach her then some of the characters that go there and belong to the various Societies. She makes a select group of friends and she soon learns just how much she doesn’t know about her family and about herself. She turns to her new friends for help when her dad disappears but she also must ask for help from a student at the Academy who is anything but a friend. He’s irritating and some say dangerous but she has no choice, she must get James Nightshade to help her. He agrees, but there’s a price to pay and she realizes too late how much it will cost her. Very creative story
Good Points
A couple chapters into this book, I was convinced that it was okay, but that I would not love it. I am happy to say I was wrong. I got completely absorbed in this story! I love all of the action in this book. Action always seems to make books move faster. Especially for me, because I refuse to stop reading until I am at a point where I know everyone is okay. All of the societies, guilds, etc. were very creative. It was a great idea for a story that kids young and old will enjoy. I know I did. The mystery aspect of the book really kept me interested as well. I loved the characters and how different they all were. I loved the love triangle (square actually). I felt like it added a lot to a story that otherwise was all just about the action and mystery. And the end is the perfect cliffhanger! I HAVE to read the second book now!
