Scarlet Bridge is beautiful, intelligent, and ambitious. In her final year of high school, she has five goals she wants to achieve before graduation, and she won’t let anything – or anyone – stand in her way. Not even everyone’s favorite golden boy, Levi Henare.

Levi has it all – good looks, quick wit, and he is a rugby prodigy. And nothing gives him more pleasure than getting on Scarlet’s every last nerve.

When Scarlet accidentally dials Levi’s phone number, a chain of events that neither of them expected is set into motion.

Thrown together by a twist of fate, will Levi and Scarlet overcome the challenges of their final year at school, their mutual dislike of each other, and their own personal demons to successfully graduate?

GET YOU THE MOON by Hasnita Singh is a contemporary YA romance set in New Zealand. This is the kind of book you’ll want to swoon over. Levi and Scarlet have amazing chemistry together and are the classic enemies to lovers.

What worked: The New Zealand culture was a lot of fun to read about and felt very real. The book offered a fresh change from the mainstream books I’ve read set in the United States. Having her brother, Sawyer’s, issues be a mystery for a good portion of the book left me turning pages quickly so I could figure out what his deal was. When I finally found out what was going on with him, it reminded me a lot of the show Riverdale, which is a good thing since that show is fantastic. I don’t want to say any more than that because I don’t want to spoil the book. The romance in this book sizzled right off the page! The story held a bit of a slow burn romance, which was fantastic. Levi was my favorite character. He was such a sweetheart and a genuinely good guy. I loved it that he’d wanted her to be his girlfriend for so long even though she was always giving him the cold shoulder.

What didn’t work: Not much! There’s a bit of language and some heavier topics in this book, so if that’s tough for you to read, you may want to steer clear of this one. There’s sexual harrassment, PTSD, depression, suicide, and addiction. It’s a lot to unpack. If you enjoy that kind of a journey, then you’ll love this story. If it’s a bit much for you, then steering clear might be better. Personally, it didn’t bother me. I loved the story, and it worked great for what I enjoy reading. But I don’t mind reading about the heavier topics

The final verdict: This book is a beautiful love story that touches on several heavier topics. It’s an amazing journey that two ambitious teens take to find each other. I recommend it for fans of high school romance.
