Its three weeks before prom and Izzy and her sleazy boyfriend, Shawn Luttigs (aka Sluttig) break-up/make-up relationship is in break-up mode. Her friends Vivi, Lane, and Curtis know shell take Shawn back at a moments notice so, in a flash of brilliance, they initiate Operation Skewer Sluttig, aimed at making sure Izzy and Luttig dont go to prom together. This flash of brilliance includes creating a MySpace page for a fictitious super cool guy, Brandon, and having Brandon and Izzy friend each other and start IMing, so Izzy realizes there are other cute guys out there.

Since the girls dont know what a guy would say online, they recruit Vivis brother Marshall, a junior, to chat with Izzy. The plan works too well and Izzy falls for Brandon, thinking she might want to ask him to the prom. Now the conspirators must come up with a real person to masquerade as Brandon, which, believe it or not, they doJonathan. They prep him on what Brandon is like and buy him a new wardrobe. Izzy and Brandon meet at a neutral place, the local diner, with Vive, Lane and Marshall there to check him out. All goes smoothly and it seems like they hit it off.

But you know as well as I do that there are other love complications, which I wont reveal. Lets just say that Vivi, Lane and Curtis are still dateless for the prom and certain people have crushes on certain other people.

OK, so the story is predictable. So what. Fake Boyfriend is a fun read with fun, likable characters. It is well written, descriptive and fast paced. Kate Brian shows the lengths that friends will go for each other. There are a few twists thrown in, but basically you know whats going to happen. There is also fashion name-dropping, expensive car name-dropping, and make-up name-dropping. Fake Boyfriend is a great beach read, or in winter, in front of the fireplace read. So, curl up and enjoy. If you like this book, Kate Brian also wrote Sweet 16, Lucky T, Megan Meades Guide to the McGowan Boys and the Private series.

My friend gave me this to read and I thought it would be stupid. I dreaded started it, but as soon as I read the first page, I was into it. I loved it so much! It kept me flipping the pages, even during my classes. I couldn't stop! I started the book in the morning before school and ended it when I got home from school. It was a nice, normal, teen read. Instead of vampires, faeries, and werewolves (like I normally read about) it had normal teenage girls in it trying to help out their friend.

It deserves 5 stars! It had just the right amount of romance, with just the right amount of drama. Perfect!

Normally, I'm addicted to Kate Brian books but this one was a little difficult to judge. It was cute, and it captured my attention, but it wasn't what I thought it'd be.

When Lane and Vivi create a fake online boyfriend for Isabelle after her heart is broken, things get interesting. Vivi's brother Marshall is the man behind the screen, and totally in love with Isabelle. So then they bring in a Prep school guy named Jonathon, who turns out to be Vivi's type of man. What about Curtis and Lane? She can't seem to get the guts to tell him how she feels.

Everything gets messy, and the ending was a bit of a surprise. I honestly still dislike the ending, but it worked. The characters felt a little...unreal at times, but it was a fun read for a few laughs, a few gasps, and a couple surprises.

Fake Boyfriend is a laugh out loud read. We all want the best for our friends right? How could you blame Lane and Vivi for trying to help their friend Isabell? When Isabell and her on again off again boyfriend Shawn are officially off, months before the prom, Izzy freaks. Lane and Vivi use a little creativity to help get their friend out of her funk. Isabell starts to fall for the fake guy Brandon but what happens when it looks like Izzy wont get the prom of her dreams?I really liked this book. I thought that there was a lot of starting and stopping but otherwise I loved it. The cover is also totally cute. The colors are really cool and I totally love the doll. So cute! Kate Brian is my ultimate favorite author. I really liked the character Jonathan who plays Izzy's perfect guy. I thought he was funny and cute and overall a good guy. Looking for more Kate Brian? She's written many other books like my favorite series Private!

Fake Boyfriend was one of those quirky, funny, fast reads.

What I loved about the book was the witty plot. I just loved the idea of creating a fake boyfriend just to help a friend in need. A funny and fast ride that will definitely leave the readers laughing and ready for more of Kate Brians stuff.

I loved Vivi and Lane because they were willing to do something totally outrageous so their best friend wouldnt feel so depressed from her ex-boyfriends cheating. Vivi was really outgoing and it was obvious that she really loved Izzy and was willing to go off the deep end just for her. Though shes a bit obnoxious and stuff, I definitely grew to love her. Lane, on the other hand, was more reserved with the whole plan because of her naturally shy nature. As the book progressed, she definitely became more outgoing and more sociable.

Izzy, the friend in desperate need, totally surprised me. In the beginning, I thought she was one of those friends who had no backbone and that she was really stupid. I mean, she totally was. Stupid, I mean. Yet at the end, she surprised me with a plan of her own that left me laughing hysterically. She definitely wasnt the helpless girl I thought she was.

When I went to Barnes & Noble one day with my friend (something we do quite often) I headed for the Teens' Section as I always do. I had seen Fake Boyfriend on the top shelf before bur had never looked at it. So I opened up the first page and the next thing I knew, I was at the cashier's counter buying it. After that I went on a trip and started Fake Boyfriend while I was on it. I felt connected with the book immediately. It was full of humor, drama, details, and a half white/half black cookie I really wanted to eat :)

I fell in love with Jonathan and (of course) Kate Brian's way of writing. Just the idea of these two girls makeing a MySpace for and imaginary guy along with everything else in the book really, I think, catches your attention in a very simple way--yet you can't seem to put the book down.

To give you proof: I came back from my trip and already two of my friends had read the book and said it was "AWESOME!" and their favorite.

I love this book and it's characters. Definitely one of my favorites :)
