a boy-criminal named artemis fowl has found about a race unknown to other humans-the fairy.he plans to actualy kidnap a fairy so he could request enormous size of gold in exchange for her freedom..
that is the storyline of this book.despite some might not expect much, believe me there IS much.
this book has unmatched humor and interesting story that is completely different from ones found in other books of this genre.perfect mix of criminal and magic.i recomend both this book and its sequels to the readers of all ages.

After reading this book in one sitting, I think I've finally discovered my true reading level. I may not be that young, but as I've been told repeatedly that I've yet to grow up, I think I can easily qualify as a "young" adult reader.

This is a book that I had a lot of fun reading. I even busted the code (believe me - not a hard task) and started deciphering the code at the bottom of each page. I'm sitting here with a soft pencil, decoding like a cub scout with a secret decoder ring.

Eoin Colfer is a genius, with a vivid imagination and a wonderfully wicked sense of humor. He has produced a well thought out novel, nicely bound and presented, somehow combining a brilliant 12 year old millionaire criminal mastermind, a loyal butler named Butler who just happens to be a killing machine, a dwarf with a mighty forceful tunneling action, a techie wise-cracking centaur who can give Ian Fleming's "Q" a run for his money, a tough military-type girl scout fairy and her old fashioned boss, a havoc wrecking troll, and a support cast of dozens.

It's got magic, intrigue, deception, kidnapping, blackmail, computers, weapons, code-breaking, violence, and projectile flatulence and can't be faulted for the sheer brilliance of the scheming.

As soon as I finish my decoding, I'm off to book 2, "The Arctic Incident". Your kids will love this one, and so will you.

This book was simply amazing! 12-year-old genius, Artemis Fowl and his manservant, Butler, completely amaze me with their story! Artemis Fowl attempts to kidnap Holly Short, a fairy from the LEP (Lower Elements Police) for ransom for his favourite thing-gold. In the end, he wins (being as smart as he is), and Holly is furious. The book (which all fairies have to obey) say that when a human wins gold, they win.

I love Artemis Fowl! He is so smart, but in this book he is too greedy, and sort of mean, and will do whatever it takes to win. And he knows what he;s doing. He knows how to plan. His adventures are so exciting, and I loved to read this book!

Artemis Fowl is one of the best books ever . It is in close runnings with the Harry Potter series in my opinion . It's just a shame that there aren't any more than three books . I really hope that Eoin Colfer writes another book to the series of Artemis Fowl books that have kept me enraptured for hours on end .

One of the best books I've ever read! Eoin Colfer is a genius! My best friend, who despises fantasy books of any kind, read it and three days later, she went out and bought it. A topsecret underground civilization of "make believe", though technolically advanced creatures who are being exploited by a pre-teen millionare whose family is part of the world's organized crime comunity. What could be better. It's like the Matrix meets Richie Rich meets Cinderella!(in the fairy sense anyway)

I thought this was a wonderful story that mixes the elements of fantasy creatures with the plot of a crime story to give a fun ride all the way.

I abssolutely love this book. It's imaginative and so fantastic. At the same times there are many humorous parts and you'll just fall in love with all the characters.

When Artemis Fowl (a super human genius) decides to kidnap a fairy he kidnaps a cunning one and gets into quite a bit of trouble. Soon there are many schemes to get the fairy back unfortunately for all the fairy people Artemis Fowl is usually one step ahead of them.

this book was very interesting. its a bout a boy, he's lost his father, possibly deranged, and certainly evil. he is a genius. he knows things that others don't. he knows of the people that live underground. when he kidnaps one of the little people from a police foroce type thing he starts what can be called a war. its a page turner and imagination stirrer. read it and you wont be sorry

This book is quite good. Surprising compared to the jacket summary..but quite good.

Artemis is a child genius who likes to scheme. I'll leave it at that!

This book is my favorite book in this series. It has a lot of adveture, and reminds me a little of Harry Potter. Artemis Fowl is detailed and has a lot of action. Eoin Colfer creates a different world, and shows how different Artemis Fowl is from a normal boy his age.
