I thought this was a wonderful story that mixes the elements of fantasy creatures with the plot of a crime story to give a fun ride all the way.

This book is great, absolutely one of my favorite children's books of all time.

We meet a young genius with his sidekick bodyguard who discover the existence of beings of myth.
LepRechauns, Rather, LEP Recon, and an amazing underlying world of advanced civilization, slightly further than the world above.

Artemis of course, being a child, has no idea what he's gotten himself into and entertainingly works to figure for himself the answers.

Yes, the book was criminal. But in a good way. I hadn't been into science fiction before Artemis, but it totally got me into that whole genre.

Colfer has a good sense of humor that shines through in the book. The irony in it is funny.

The characters are well-developed and three-demensional. So well-developed that I actually started infatuating love towards Artemis (crazy, I know - absolutely psycho.) But that's over.

My point is, there is excellent character development. They all have separate and individual personalities that are quite comical put together. The language is also strong and well-written.

Definitely worth reading, guys!

This is great story about a fantasy world in which fairies and leprechauns live and try to keep their world a secret to humans. They are conforted by a highly intelligent boy who would like to exploit their secrets and rule the world. Funny and well written.

This a great beginning to a wonderful series. Artemis Fowl is a great read and the addition of fairies puts this book over the hedge. Holly is one kick-but fairy who rules this novel. Artemis Fowl might not teach good moral lessons (or maybe it does) but it is funny and a smart clever read that if fun and exciting and makes you want to know more about the mysterious Artemis Fowl.

I abssolutely love this book. It's imaginative and so fantastic. At the same times there are many humorous parts and you'll just fall in love with all the characters.

When Artemis Fowl (a super human genius) decides to kidnap a fairy he kidnaps a cunning one and gets into quite a bit of trouble. Soon there are many schemes to get the fairy back unfortunately for all the fairy people Artemis Fowl is usually one step ahead of them.

I just thought that someone from the actual age group should review this book.
I'm 15 and I have to say that I liked this book a lot.

Although many think that it is a childish book because of the magic, fairies, etc. It actually is serious and thought provoking enough that people of a broad range will like it.

This series is about how a 12 year-old boy
"Artemis Fowl" gets himself and his bodyguard
"Butler" into trouble with a technologicaly advanced and hidden species and culture.

I think this book could be considered a family book as children, teens, and adults seem to enjoy it. :-) I RATE IT 4.25

this book was very interesting. its a bout a boy, he's lost his father, possibly deranged, and certainly evil. he is a genius. he knows things that others don't. he knows of the people that live underground. when he kidnaps one of the little people from a police foroce type thing he starts what can be called a war. its a page turner and imagination stirrer. read it and you wont be sorry

This book is quite good. Surprising compared to the jacket summary..but quite good.

Artemis is a child genius who likes to scheme. I'll leave it at that!

There he goes, being a twelve-year-old millionare is not the only thing Artemis knows. In fact he knows almost everything, he is a criminal mastermind and most of all a genius. Follow him in his journey, to search for fairies gold.

Is the gold real, or is it just another trick of Artemis Fowl.
