This book was a DISAPPOINTMENT. At the point where I decided to read this book I had heard of it a lot. My brother had loved the series and I was looking forward to another good book to go along with the greats. But that is not what I got. I was surprised of how bad it was. It had action, I will give it that, but that is about all it had. The character development was horrible. I understand that Artemis isn't suppose to have feelings but what about Holly? I had no sense of their emotion and could not connect to any of the characters in the least bit. And worse than that was the HORRENDOUS WRITING. Whoever wrote that review who said that Eoin Colfer was a lazy writer hit it spot on. Looking back on it, it still shocks me how bad and mediocre, and annoying his writing was. The world of the faeries is quite cool and original but its the writing that kills it. That is why it is merely crumpled paper compared to Harry Potter or His Dark Materials or any other fantasy book. There is no effort in his writing and it shows. He could of made a masterpiece but instead he made an EPIC FAILURE. 

Anyone who says that this book is as good as or better than the greats (you know what I'm talking about) needs to take another look at Eoin Colfer's writing and story telling ability and answer that question again.

This book was a fabulous, new kind of fairy story.

It approaches the whole typical fable story fairy and turns it inside out and upside down.

The end result is a fairy story that is out of this world.

Artemis Fowl is a criminal mastermind and he's about to prove it. Not just to humankind but also to fairykind. Fairies exist and Artemis is going to be the first to discover...or rather exploit...An interesting array of characters come into the story, all equally memorable.

This story is exciting, fast paced and just amazingly inventive. It is a book I have never gotten tired of reading!

I thought Artemis Fowl was one of the best books I have ever read. It was very exciting and suspensful. I think that everyone should get a chance to read this wonderful book! You never know how fast you can get wrapped up in the story I finished the book in one day because I liked it so much Artemis Fowl beats Harry Potter by a longshot.

This book was great. I made many of my fairy tale dreams realistic. Aretmis was the greatest character to put up against the fairy underworld. With his smarts, money, and child like mind, it kind of made him invincable. The way they mixed all of the different fairy things together, the pixies, the trolls, and their weapons, all of it was just perfect to me.

the book is a good book for people that like to read adventure books as well as fiction bookes. this book is verry interesting in ways i never thought imaginable it gets readers hooked on it the first time they read it i know i did. over all the book is a 9 out to 10 so its really good

Wow, how to review Artemis Fowl. The best book ever. I read all of the books in the series. The characters are great. The plot is excellent, and the whole story is simply amazing. I am one of those readers who is picky about what I read, but man this was well WOW!

I liked this book so much that I rate it 11/10! but I'm trying to find out what the ritual is and it's really annoying me!!! Its based on a 12yr old boy who is a criminal. He kidnaps a fairy. But these arent the ones you read about at bedtime. Just when he thinks he got them where he wants them, they move again. READ IT!!!!

Everyone who likes Harry Potter and other fantasy/magic books will like Artemis Fowl. He is a great main character. He is bad and good at the same time. He is mean sometimes but also he is very smart. The gadgets and magic in the book are really fun to read about. The book is very interesting. I like Holly and Root and Butler too. I wish there were more Artemis Fowl book soon.
