This book is so awesome. It's filled with adventure and comedy. There's even a little bit of romance. It's one of those books that's got everything but the kitchen sink. I just love the plot and the story progresses beautifully. The ending was fabulous.
when i first opened this book, it wasn't what i thought it was. i was hoping for another teen story about drama or friends or boys or something. but this book showed me their are other great stories to be read. the main character gets sent around the world by her "dead" aunt to complete tasks, but more importantly, to see the world. many problems come and go, but the girl sticks to the mission to see what her aunt really was trying to tell her. this book made it onto my greatest teen reads list. i didn't think i would like it when i read the first couple of pages, but it touched my heart and it was a change from the usual books i read.
I thought that this book was absolutely excellent. Ginny was SUCH a realistic character to me, and I adored her world travels. Aunt Peg was great, even though we never actually "saw" her. I LOVED the idea of her sending letters from "beyond the grave". If I could give it more stars, I would!
Ginny receives a message from her eccentric aunt, six months after she died. The message gives her thirteen little blue envelopes and instructs her to travel to Europe and perform a certain task; when she has completed that task, she can open the next envelope. Ginny ventures out into the world and for the first time breaks out of her shell, finds love, and learns all sorts of things she never knew about her aunt's life.
Thirteen Little Blue Envelopes was sweet and fun. It was an adventure, but not overly dramatic at all. The tone was perfect: light and funny. I love Ginny's character - she has many qualities of a normal teenager, but she's independent, self-reliant, and she doesn't always go with the flow. She's her own person, and she's exactly who she wants to be. I highly recommend this book. It was a pleasure to read.
Ginny Blackstone receives a mysterious little blue envelope with a cute
drawn on number 1. It tells her to buy and plane ticket to London ASAP,
but not before she travels to a run down greasy Chinese restaurant that
her strange aunt Peg used to live in. When she goes there she gets a
package with 12 more little blue envelopes. Each one leading her on
another adventure across Europe. She meets new people, finds love,
dreams big, and find herself in a new way that her aunt Peg was always
trying to tell her. Everything Ginny new about herself will change
because of these 13 little blue envelopes.

envelopes is an amazing book, its very funny but can be very serious
too. Maureen has done it again! But seriously read this book its
amazing and eye opening.
I have not finished this book yet but so far it is good! Except for the part that is offensive! It said: Dear Ginger, well you know what I am a red-head and I felt terrible when I read that because people where just making fun of me for having red hair at school that day and I go to read this book to get it off my mind and on the first page the first two words say:DEAR GINGER!) I AM SO SUING! ;) JK LOL

13 Little Blue Envelopes by Maureen Johnson is about a girl named Ginny who leaves to London after receiving 13 little blue envelopes from her deceased aunt Peg. Every envelope Ginny opens after that takes her to new places and new people. In her journey Ginny learns so much about her aunt and starts finding herself.
If you are ready to take an adventure 13 Little Blue Envelopes is the right book. I really enjoyed reading this book and couldnt wait to read what the next envelope said and what the next task was.
13 Little Blue Envelopes is about a girl named Ginny who explores Europe with only letters from her wacky, dead aunt. Each letter contains a task for Ginny to do and after she completes the task she can open the next envelope. Sounds fun right? Well Ginny is by herself and she starts to get lonely as the place she explores get more and more less familiar. While I was reading this I found myself staying up well past my bed time reading this book, eager to find out where the letters would lead Ginny next.
13 Little Blue Envelopes (13LBE) is the story of Ginny Blackstone's summer abroad. However, 13LBE isn't the typical summer abroad story. Ginny doesn't choose to go on this trip, she is sent on it by her crazy aunt who has left her directions to follow in 13 letters, hence the title. This is the only book I've read by Maureen Johnson and she is an amazing author. The whole time I read this book I felt what Ginny was feeling. I laughed with her, I cried with her, I even pinned for the boy she falls for. This is definitely a book I recommend to anyone who loves YA novels. This book will make you want to travel where Ginny travels and if you are from the states like me you'll be dying to travel abroad. I never got the feeling while reading 13LBE that I didn't understand a location Ginny traveled to and I definitely never felt out of the loop. I can't wait till the sequel comes out. I'm in love with the life of Ginny Blackstone and I know you'll feel the same way too.
My Thoughts: Oh, Maureen Johnson, the things you do to me! Where do I even start? The first book I ever read by Maureen was Suite Scarlett and I fell in love with her writing right then! 13 Little Blue Envelopes certainly did not disappoint. I laughed, I cried, and at times I wanted to scream. Ginny is sent on a wild goose chase by her aunt in the form of, you guessed it, 13 little blue envelopes. Each envelope has instructions telling Ginny where to go, what to do, or who to meet and rules about when and where to open the next envelope. I couldnt put the book down, I read it in one night! I had to find out what was in the next envelope. The setting is so well described you feel like you are traveling with Ginny most of the time. I was surprised to learn that Maureen hadnt been to all the places she sent Ginny to because it certainly seemed like she had. Talk about fantastic research! Ginny is an ordinary girl that gets an extraordinary opportunity, one Im not sure Id be so quick to accept. Shes very down-to-earth and level-headed for most of the book, not just a crazy teenager on a whirlwind backpacking excursion. Keith got on my nerves, a lot. He was a typical annoying guy with horrible judgment. He was absolutely perfect! That seems like a total contradiction, but if Keith had been any other type of guy, the story would not have been what it was. He HAD to be annoying. It absolutely worked. This book definitely lights the travel fire in me. Im just itching to go on a trip like Ginnys. The Verdict: Three words: So. Much. Fun. A definite must read for anyone whos ever traveled or is just dying to!
