My Opinion : This books from author Maureen Johnson was good. Not great, nor incredible, but good. I'm not much of a fan of books about adventures, but at least there was some romance. I like how Ginny was; her personality. Well, good book! I have heard there is a sequel and it's already on my to-read shelf.

Characters : Keith would be my favorite character of the book. I liked how he was introduced as a musical producer. And that Ginny gave him money, that he wondered why and began to know her better.

Ginny was a nice main character! I liked her energy and the way the thought. I like how timid she is around boys; I thought it was quite cute.

Aunt Peg looked a lot of fun! I don't know why I got that impression... right... she's eccentric!

Richard was a sweet guy and it didn't really impress me that he and Aunt Peg were dating, and married.

Of course, there are other characters... tons of them! Like Olivia, the lesbian girl who didn't tell her parents about her 'favoritism'. I didn't like that she didn't tell her parents; it's not a good example to set.

3.5/5 stars.

This is a cute little story about a girl named Virginia who had a very eccentric aunt. Her aunt passed away from brain cancer but before she did she wrote Virginia a note with instructions on her going on an adventure following her specific instructions. She had 13 envelopes, each with an instruction that Virginia had to do. This took her to Europe! She went on some amazing adventures, traveled to all kinds of places, and met very interesting people!

I did really like this story! It was a cute and simple story about a young girl going on an adventure to just have one more chance to know her aunt. I was sucked in to the story right from the beginning and was so curious as to where these envelopes were going to take her that I couldn't put it down. That being said, I was a bit disappointed with the character Virginia, I wish there was more to her, at times she really seemed un-emotional and clueless! But I really did enjoy the story and plan on reading the next book!

Ginny has just received a package from her runaway aunt. It contains 13
blue envelopes. On each envelope, there is a set of instructions she
must follow. Ginny is amazed at this because a) The instructions
include going to Europe with nothing more than a backpack and b) her
aunt is dead. Nevertheless, Ginny goes to London, where her aunt has
written that she should go. Only this is just the beginning. Ginny
meets an Englishman, Keith, and falls in love with him. She follows the
instructions and goes to Scotland to the house of a very interesting
artist, she travels to Denmark, France, Italy, and Greece among others.
What Ginny doesn't know, is that, in between all this crazyness, she
discovers the true state of her late aunt while she was dying and
discovers more about herself than she ever knew.

This is the perfect romantic/travel novel. It is the third time I've
read it and I still love it as the first time. It is this novel that
flourished in me a desire to travel and get to know other places in
this world. It also made me want to date a Hot English Dude even more.

What seems like a lonely trip, becomes the adventure of a lifetime,
including the auction of her aunt's painting which results in lots of
money that she shares with her aunt's friend, Richard.

Richard, a sweet character, was also her aunt's husband, something
Ginny didn't know because her aunt, after fleeing from New York, didn't
keep that much in contact. Ginny learns that her aunt was not always
very smart but that she had passions, something that Ginny struggles to
thrive for. Unexpectedly, her aunt did love too. She loved Richard,
something that even he didn't know.

This novel is still one of my favorites and I welcome all of you to read it and share your thoughts on it.

In once sentence:

Europe has never seemed like such an adventure until you've read this book!

My friend recommended this book to me and I'm so glad that I read it! I
really enjoyed the novel more than I expected I would. It's about a teenage
girl traveling all around Europe, following instructions left to her, in
13 little blue envelopes, by her dead aunt. The book has a good tone and is
well-paced, and it has a lot of interesting characters. Overall, it's a
cute story and must-read.

Ginny takes off on an adventure based on 13 little blue envelopes that her Aunt Peg left her, some cash, and a set of instructions. She flies around the world, meeting new people, at times wondering just why is she doing all this. Characters jump in and out of this novel, and you can't help but to laugh at some of the things Ginny does. In the end, you're left with a great adventure you want to do yourself.

13 Little Blue Envelopes is about a girl named Ginny, who after her Grandmother's death is sent on a wild scavenger hunt throughout Europe with nothing but thirteen blue envelopes and her backpack. She must follow four simple rules:

Rule #1 You may only bring what fits in your backpack. Don't try to fake it with a purse or a carry on.

Rule #2 You may not bring guidebooks, phrasebooks, or any kind of foreign language aid. And no journals

Rule#3 You cannot bring extra money or credit/debit cards, travelers checks etc. I'll take care of all of that.

Rule#4 No electronic crutches. This means no laptop, no cell phone, no music, and no camera. You can't call home or communtcate with anyone in the US by internet or telephone. Postcards and letters are acceptable and encouraged.

During this trip she learns alot about herself and her grandmother than she ever thought that she would. It was a great book I loved the concept of a scavenger hunt and I felt like I was a part of her journey accross Europe. It was an excelent Summer Read!

Ginny is a seventeen year old girl who goes all around the world on a misson; a mission given to her by her beloved aunt, who had died. Ginny is given thirteen blue envelopes, each a letter telling her what to do and places to visit. I enjoyed this book because each letter and place is a mystery. I recommend this book for 14 and up.
