Overall, this a splendid book and I very much enjoyed every bit.
Good Points
To Kill a Mockingbird Review:
Where I live now is nothing like the sleepy, steaming town of Macomb, Alabama. Although, the author sure Harper Lee made me think I was really living there. In the book, To Kill a Mockingbird, stories are told in the view of an 8-year-old girl named Scout Finch. Scout's Father, Atticus, is an admired lawyer that helps out a black man, trying to win his case in court. This black man, named Tom Robinson, is accused of a terrible crime.
The reason I really liked this book was mainly because of Atticus. His wisdom stuck in my brain and life lessons were thrown at me. Atticus always seemed to have the perfect advice for either of his children, Jem and Scout, and even me! He seems so brave to be able to stand up for a black man in front of a town that despises people like Tom. He seemed to not care about what the world thought of him, which is something that's hard to do.
Mystery and adventure swirls into the story when the mention of Boo Radley comes alive. He is the Finches neighbor, but he never leaves the house. Apparently, only a few, lucky people have seen him step outside into the sunlight. Scout, Jem, and their new friend Dill act out skits of what they think Boo is like. The suspense you get from the tricks they play just make you want to read faster.
While the kids fun and games are at hand, Atticus is busy with the trial. I think as the story goes on, you get the vibe that Scout wrote these stories to show what a good, loyal man and father Atticus was. You can tell that he tried to do the right thing for everyone, and for not just himself. He kept his skills and talents to himself until they were needed. For example, when he shoot the rabid dog coming down the street in one shot without his glasses.
If you were to look deeper into the story, and find the heart of it, you'd find the theme. It's not just about living through tough conditions. It's about living in a world of intolerance towards other races. The townsfolk in the story are scared of other people's differences, and treat them like they don't belong. This could happen anywhere in the world that we live in today, making To Kill a Mockingbird even more realistic.
Throughout the court Tom's court trial, Atticus questions with caution. Some of the things that he asks seem to have no meaning, but in the end you'll discover why Atticus asked them in the first place. In the end, Atticus made it quite clear that Tom is innocent. He explains that black men and women are human just like us, and should be treated no different. But, I think everyone new that Tom was going to be convicted one way or another just because of the color of his skin.
The man who accused Tom, Bob Ewell, was enraged at Atticus for standing up for a black man and proving him wrong. He begins to show hatred towards the Finch family by spitting in Atticus's face. Of course, Atticus didn't do anything violent. He just walked away out of the kindness and patience in his heart. Now, Atticus's kids are in in danger of Bob. To find out what will happen to the kids, Boo Radley, and Bob Ewell, you'll have to read the book!

Scout and Jem had several problems to deal with. They were very interested in the story of thier neighbor Boo Radley (who they heard was crazy). They and thier friend dill were always trying to spy and find out more. Scout was starting school and she was having a hard time adjusting. She was allways getting into fights. Jem was finding strange things in a hole in a tree.
These were minor stories.The main plot was that Atticus was defending a black man accused of raping a white women. The whole town was into this case cause they all thought he was guilty. Also it is the early 30s. It went into school were the children were going. The father faced many things that were bad even in the middle of the case. Such as the mob going to kill the black man and the mad dog (witch has rabizes)and the father, Atticus shot the dog to save all the people. He was an intellegant and talk about all things to help all people. All the people had learned a good leason thhat year.

To Kill A Mockingbird follows the Finch family through the tough age of Racism. Scout and Jems father, Aticus, is a lawyer who has chosen to defend a black man accused of raping a white woman. In the small southern town of Macomb it is completly insane to actually defend a black man, no matter what the charges. The trial stirs up alot of trouble and shows the true feelings of alot of the town folk. Scout and Jem are learning to adapt and survive through this hard time, and most importantly learning to grow up.
This novel is a great look into the past and is defently a classic everyone should read.

This is one great book it is just so moving is just one of the greatest books in the world it is just so great when you read this book you will be so moved that you are going to be in shock and the movie is just as good.

I wasn't looking forward to reading To Kill a Mockingbird (by Harper Lee) at all. I had to read it though, for a test that I am taking to test out of an English class. I reluctantly started the novel, and I ended up loving it!
To Kill a Mockinbird is actually a simple novel about a sleepy Southern town. The narrator, a young girl by the name of Scout, lives with her father and brother. They all get along quite well, both with each other and with everyone else in town. Then Scout's father is asked to defend a black man in court. The man was charged with a crime he did not commit, and the father is determined to free him from any sentence. Because Scout and her family live in the South in the 1930s, many people in the town are still rascist and problems arise.
To Kill a Mockingbird was a wonderful piece of literature that anyone could appreciate.

They had never been affected by one of Atticus' cases before, and are surprised to have this one impact their lives. And, though Scout is growing up enough to realize the labels society places on people of different race and social status--and enough to have her aunt scolding her about her tomboyish behavior, she learns a lot more about life when this case comes about.

A great read, where childish innocence and the danger of the outside world are combined in a thrilling mix.
I enjoyed this book a lot mainly because of its use of complex language, combined with everyday matters.
The section about Negroes being put down was particularily interesting... this book is not only a great read, but you actually learn things out of it.
I strongly recommend this.

I read this book because it was assigned in class...and i think its one of the best books ever written in amerian literature. It beautifully and truly discusses the existance of good and evil that lies in human beings and the world. It is a novel that descibes how innocence can be stolen and completely injure and destroy someone. well if u havent read it, i suggest u do!!!! its the best...Lee is brilliant.
