THis is a goood book w ith a good lesson.  Its ideal for 4-6 graders but can be ejoyed by an older crowd.  You learn about history while enjoy this lovable characters. You learn a lot labout idians and there culture and misconceptions about them.  It is easier for boys to relate to the main character but i was about to relate as well.  I think that kids how like adventure or books like the hachet will like this.

While I enjoyed this book somewhat in the fifth grade, I realize now that it is far too antiquated for our public schools. The stereotypical Native American is portrayed in this overly fantastical fiction novel that, while well written, unfortunately perpetuates misperceptions about today's Native American population. Young adults would fare better by reading nonfiction stories about Native Americans, such as Counting Coup. Perhaps by teaching the truth about the circumstances of our native people, we can begin to rebuild their homes and lives as they deserve. The Sign of the Beaver simply ignores this truth.

This book, The Sign of the Beaver, has some good parts and some parts were I said to myself "This book is stupid, boring, pointless, and the worst book." The only reason I read it is because it was homework. (Don't waste your time watching the movie)

This was a great book. It was about a boy who stays alone in his log cabin for 6 to 7 weeks (that is what he thinks.) But while he was there he meets indians and sees what it is like to be one of them and it isnt easy. Then a whole lot happens like he meets a bear some one steals his rifle his family takes more than 10 weeks to get back and a whole bunch of other things. I hope you like it I did!

The sign of the beaver was a interesting book, but it wasnt my kind of book.I would have picked something a little more like dragonlance or lord of the rings... but for what this book is about, i think it is very good. It just didnt catch my attention as much as my favorite types of books would.although that is only my opinion for The Sign of The Beaver...
