She's prepared dumplings with her mom, bought a new dress in Chinatown, and even helped scare mythical beast Nian away with her cousins and brother. There's only one problem: she's a bit nervous about all of the loud noises at the upcoming Lunar New Year Parade. Will she overcome her fears? Find out in the latest installment of the Night Before series, told in the style of Clement C. Moore's classic tale

What I liked: This book is a great introduction for someone who wants to learn more about lunar new year and its traditions. It touches upon receiving red envelopes and watching the dragon dance. The use of rhyming makes the story very engaging and easy to follow.

What Left Me Wanting More: Learning about a new culture is interesting, but it can be challenging to pronounce some of the less familiar words. It would be helpful to have a glossary with pronunciation so readers can know how to say words that may be foreign to them.

Final Verdict: NIGHT BEFORE LUNAR NEW YEAR does a fantastic job of teaching about Lunar New Year in a kid friendly that will keep young readers engaged.
