There are two types of good books: ones that hook you at the very first sentence and those that you continue to read until one day you find that you can't put them down. I think this book was a mix of both, but two-thirds the latter (by the end of the first day I had flipped through one-fifth of the book and couldn't put it down when I was finally forced to).

Now this isn't the book for the conservative, the mainstream or the trashy. This is a book with a purpose, even if the language used by the ghetto-born narrator may seem otherwise. This story is so wonderfully laid as if it was real, in all dimensions. I think if you are game you can enjoy this great story about street-life and life in general.

I love how Souljah put herself in this book and put herself in such a negative light, showing her dual personality. I love how the story, in addition to the ending, the attitude and authentic deep characters added up into a clear message when you finally turned the last page.

It was excellent. A book that I couldn't find one flaw with. And if I enjoyed it, you can to. (Finally a contemporary book with a message).

peace.

I love The Coldest Winter Ever. It has its own hip-hop ghetto flavor vide to it. I grew up around music (rappers, singers). This book will make you want to read more. I enjoyed it. The best book I have read and actually wanted to finish it.

Hip-hop artist and political activist Sister Souljah writes a book about a spoiled, rich teenager who enters a life of crime when her drug lord father is busted. During her adventures throughout the streets of New York City, Winter runs into none other than Sister Souljah, who in the novel takes on the role of a wise social reformer who attempts to place Winter on a brighter path.

I loved this book I think its one of my favorites!!!

To say the least, this is the best book I have ever read. I recommend it to people all the time, yet I get a response from them saying they are tired of reading books about the ghetto and hip hop. I try to explain to them time after time that this is not a book about hip hop or the ghetto, it is a piece of literature, that in my opinion, should be read in schools along with Shakespeare and The Great Gatsby. This is a book that EVERY young female and male, of all races, shapes and sises should read at one point or aonther. There is so much to be learned from the book and Sister Souljah's writing is so beautiful and detailed it feels as though you are seeing what she is writing. Everyone can one way or naother relate to an event or character in the book. The book is so full of teachings and so powerful that I have to admit it is my favourite book to this day. I am super exited for the sequel, and if there is one, the movie.

Thank you so much Sister Souljah for making a book that I can truly call a classic.

I thought this book was pretty good. However, I guess I was expecting more of a traditional "good or bad" ending. Winter Santiaga was infuriating through the entire book. I was always waiting for her to meet her match and wake up! I read this book for pleasure as well as for a future assignment for a class I plan on taking. I guess I will have to wait until that class to gain more insight into this book and what it REALLY means for our community.

I think "The Coldest Winter Ever" was a great and original book. It is the best book I have ever read. Like I read someone else say, it should be a movie. I couldn't even put the book down, so a movie would be unstoppable eye contact.

To make a long story short, I give Sister an A-. She is very creative and talented. So talented I did my book report project on her. So 2 things, 1 i hope you come out with another book even better (I know your capable). And 2 MAKE A WEBSITE. Im busting my butt looking for information on you. 1 love to you, your son, and your husband. Keep up the good work.
