The Mortal Instruments series is the best thing since Harry Potter.  It's a little bit Harry Potter and a little bit Twilight and a lot something special all of it's own.  While out dancing with her bestfriend, Simon, Clary witness a strange event.  This event, changes her life in ways she could never imagine, ultimately leading to the fight of her life. There are vampires, demons, werewolfs and angels.  I read this thick, 485 page book in less than a day.  It's a magical, entertaining book that is destined to be the next big series.

Outstanding. This book was amazing. Full of everything that anyone would want in a series. Love, adventure, drama, action, and mystery. This book was extremely well rounded, it followed an interesting plot and even had a twist at the ending that kept me dying to read the next one. I have successfully finished all the books that are in this series so far, and I am in love with this world and its characters. Keep reading it just gets better.

this book is like wow!

i think you have to read the whole book to really understand it. but it had me at the first page! this book has almost everything in it and it is apart of one of my many favorite series!

there is a lot of mystery and romance in this book and the next two(city of ashes& city of glass) are even better and you get a better look at clary and jace's steamy relationship. also you will find out things you never imagined!
i am 15 and i love the MORTAL INSTRUMENTS SERIES!

I really liked this book, even liked it WAY better than Twilight.  Ok, I'm not a "YA" anymore, but throughly enjoyed this book.  It has great suspense, humor and action, without the more "adult" twists.  The story is well told, the author is a good writer, she can tell the story with a complete visual.  If you like vampires, werewolfs, etc. this is a great story set in modern time.

I will read again!

I came across this series while looking
for e-books online. While I didnt find the e-book, I did find a sample
of the audiobook for the first in the series, City of Bones, which I
downloaded. I didnt get around to actually listening to it until I had
my wisdom teeth removed a few weeks ago, and I needed something to do
to help me relax and take my mind off of my sore mouth before bed. The
series had been on my reading list for awhile, but was always checked
out and on reserve at the library.

Now I know why.

The series consists of the following three books: City of Bones, City of Ashes, and City of Glass.

The
main character of the series is Clary Fray, a teenage girl who lives
with her single mom in New York. Her life seems average, until the
night when she comes across three Shadowhunters (demon hunters), in a
local night club. Whats more is, Clary is the only one who can see
them. Soon after her strange encounter, Clarys mother disappears, and
Clary herself is attacked by a demon. As Clary and her best friend,
Simon, search for answers, Clary begins to realize that things are not
always what they seem, and she is thrust into a world of demons,
Downworlders (vampires, warlocks, faeries, and werewolves), and
Shadowhunters.

This series was
extremely well-written, and will satisfy teens looking for another
fantasy romance as well as those readers who are looking for something
a bit deeper. The characters are well-developed and the reader is
easily able to identify with them, as well as with the situations they
are placed in. The books deal with prevalent teen issues such as love,
heartbreak, family, and friendship as well as more advanced topics such
as redemption, temptation, and even the argument of nature vs.nurture.
With an overabundance of teen fantasy novels being published since the
onset of the Twilight saga, the Mortal Instruments series offers
something that stands out above the rest.

15 year old Clary Fray is stuck in between the human world and a world full of all the different types of monsters and mythical creatures you could ever imagine. After her mother is kidnapped by the most sinister and evil shadowhunter ever to exist in this world ever, Clary realizes that her normal Brookklyne life may not be as normal as she would have wished. With the help of her new shadowhunter friends, Jace, Isabelle and Alec, Clary learns the truth about her life and what her mother had been hiding from her since she was born. Cassandra Clare writers The Mortal Instruments Trilogy with expertise and cleverness, including almost every aspect of the fictional world.

I began reading it in the book store because I wasn't sure if I would actually like it enough to buy it. After one chapter, I headed for the counter. I finished all three in the series in a month and am eagerly awaiting the fourth. If you are a fan of Twilight, make The Mortal Instruments your next read!

City of Bones is one of the best books I have ever read. It is a suspenseful book that keeps me on the end of my seat. I would recommend this book to anyone over ten years old. I, Mitch, as an eleven year old I would love to read the rest of the series.
