Hi, YABCers! I hope your week is off to a great start!

Today we’re super excited to celebrate the cover reveal for THE DARKEST HOUR by Caroline Tung Richmond, releasing July 26, 2016 from Scholastic. Before we get to the cover, here’s a note from Caroline:

Hi there, YABC! Thanks so much for stopping by! *Hands you a caramel cupcake* I’m so excited to share with you the cover reveal for THE DARKEST HOUR!

Strangely enough, this cover reveal feels a little like sending out a birth announcement! I’m sure that sounds a bit weird so let me explain … I wrote the proposal for THE DARKEST HOUR when I was eight months pregnant, and it sold when my baby was a screaming newborn. (She certainly earned her nickname of the Baby Overlord!) Fast forward twenty months and my daughter has grown into a busy toddler, and all the while THE DARKEST HOUR has grown along with her—starting from a bare-bones synopsis to a messy rough draft and then to many more messy drafts. But after a lot of revisions, my book baby is nearly ready for the world! *Sniff sniff* I just adore this cover, from the colors to the sideways title and especially to the girl throwing some serious shade. And I hope you love it as much as I do!

About the Book

Never underestimate a pretty face.

My name is Lucie Blaise.
I am sixteen years old.
I have many aliases, but I am none of the girls you see.
What I am is the newest agent of Covert Ops.
And we are here to take down Hitler.

After the Nazis killed my brother on the North African front, I volunteered at the Office of Strategic Services in Washington, DC, to do my part for the war effort. Only instead of a desk job at the OSS, I was tapped to join Covert Ops — a secret espionage and sabotage organization of girls. Six months ago, I was deployed to German-occupied France to gather intelligence and eliminate Nazi targets.

My current mission: Track down and interrogate a Nazi traitor about a weapon that threatens to wipe out all of Western Europe. Then find and dismantle the weapon before Hitler detonates it. But the deeper I infiltrate, the more danger I’m in. Because the fate of the free world hangs in the balance, and trusting the wrong person could cause millions of lives to be lost. Including my own.
