Warning: SPOILERS ALERT

GOD.. I REALLY HATED THIS BOOK. When I first had finished it I thought it was OK... I thought about what had happened in the book. It basically consisted of her doing drugs and getting messed up, kinda getting better, doing more drugs and getting even more messed up, kinda getting better again, then DYING. It kinda just depressed me and its not that great of a story but I felt that it would be messed up for me to say that I didn't like this book because it was a true story of a girl's diary entries. But then, I thought to myself, is this book really true? The editors note said it was and it did seem like it was someone's diary but the story itself just seemed too... I don't know... RIDICULOUS. So I decided to look in the small tiny black print on the copyright page of the book. And there it was at the very top.

This book is a work of fiction. The characters, incidents, and dialogues are products of the authors imagination and are not to be construed as real. Any resemblance to actual events or persons, living or dead, is entirely coincidental.

And that is when this book made my Most Hated Books Of ALL-TIME List . Just think about. Now knowing that this book isn't true tells us that some author thought it would be a good idea to really get it into kids brains that drugs are bad. And yeah I get it, once you tell some middle school class to read this book for English, I think they'd be scared out of their wits. But is it really fair to make up this horrible and depressing story about some innocent girl who seemed normal enough, but then ends up ruining her entire life completely based off of her drug use? I have not respect for the people who wrote and published this book. This is the worst form of propaganda. They basically lie to the readers of this book telling them that this is a true story and this is what happens if you do drugs and that is why you shouldn't. The only thing they forget to tell these horrified readers is its a load of Bull Poop (for lack of a better term)

okay her's the thing i know this may not acually be the real diary of a young girl on drugs. but i myself have leared quite a bit from this book and i dont care what those ppl have written about this not being what an acual teenager goes through cause thats not true. whoever wrote that obviously isint a teenager living in are generation.I go through similar problems everyday and i do think it explains the world of drugs well. ive never read a book that seemed more real than this one when it comes to drugs. i dont even care if the diary is real or not the point is this stuff acually happens in real life and we need to know about it. i think that anyone for over the age of 10 should read this book im saying 10 and it may sound young but im saying it cause i know most ten year olds have already heard about sex and drugs and id ather know about the dangers of drugs before i get offered them then after. its to late after youve tried it once. so i think evryone should read this book. I know some ppl didint like it but everyone has to admit they have learned atleast one thing from this and that is that reality of drugs.

Beatrice Sparks is a mormon youth counsellor well known for writing many books in the style of teenagers journals, if you would take some time to carefully read Go Ask Alice you will realize it is not written the way a teenage drug addicted girl would write a journal, not to mention the story is ridiculous and
is nothing more than anti drug propaganda.
this book is not an actual diary of an anonymous author, beatrice sparks lied.

Despite having been debunked for a quarter-century, this tripe is still being touted as real?

I've known "real druggies", and none of them acted like this whacked-out stereotype.

Beatrice needs to update her catalog and write a new book entitled: "Bill's Blog: Fantasies of a Cyber-Sex Addict".

I am available for consultation whenever Beatrice is.

Has anyone looked up Beatrice Sparks, the supposed editor? Go Ask Alice has its ingenuine moments, but if you want proof that everything this woman touches is fiction then look up Jay's Journal. Seriously, even the publishers have been categorizing Go Ask Alice as fiction since the late eighties. I admit, some of it seems very real, however the heavily dogmatic prose kinda tipped me off. She even admitted in an interview she heavily revised and even added events.
