Simon Pulses romantic comedies are light reads and lots of fun. In Micol Ostows Getting Lucky, Cass Parker has had Lady Luck smile down on her (and no, before anyone asks, it isnt the kind of getting lucky that would mean it was a book for an older YA audience).

Cass lives in Las Vegas with her dad. At the start, things arent looking that great for her other than that shes got Cameron Diaz-like looks and a pretty cool dad and lives in a pretty cool city. The bad stuff is that her parents are divorced and her dad lost a bunch of money to blackjack. And then Cass walks in on her boyfriend&making out with her best friend.

But we all know the mantra&cheaters never prosper, right? Cass starts hanging out with some other cool kids and playing a friendly game of poker or two with them (not that her dad would approve; hes on the wagon now). Her new friends are cool and easy-going and one of them in particular (even though hes an Aries and Cass knows that is so not going to work out&) has a thing for her.

When Cass catches her former boyfriend cheating again (this time in cards), they devise a plan that will give him the comeuppance he deserves. And maybe things just might work out with that cute guy Elliot after all&

Recommended for girls aged 12 or 14 and up (there is some talk of gambling and the whole making-out business). This lighthearted romance will have fans rooting for Cass (and Elliot, who was much more my type of guy than the cheater Jesse).
