Fallen: Torment
User reviews
Luce and Daniel are destined to be together, but its kinda of hard of course where he's an angel. In this book I was expecting alot more from the couple that are fighting to stay together. It has small spurts of action with killing the groups of monsters that are out to kill Luce. This is just a hint of what was coming at the end of the book. Although They Other parts of the book were very dull and not very exciting to read. She learns how to manipulate the shadows and see into her past, but it was slow paced at times right after a very intense part of the book that you were expecting the story to pick up. The totured lovers must be seperated throughout the whole book, and when Daniel does return to see Luce every time they see each other its, kissing and fighting. Lauren Kate did throw a twist in there with a growing love triangle, but that didn't go anywhere. In this book Luce was a moody teenager like everyone would be if they were forced to back up and move to the opposite side of the country. This Book didn't shock me at all because, if someone told Luce NOT to do something, Here's the shocker, she does it. The Final battle is very intense and at time you get very confused. Her and Daniel are finally together after Luce's Little kiss with her new friend miles, But even throughout the battle she is picking fights with Daniel and refusing to listen. The End Does set it up for a good begining for the next installment, but I wouldn't choose this book if you are looking for a constant stream of action.
Torment was significantly better in my opinion than the first book, Fallen.
Luce to me grew up a little, she realized that people were telling her what to do, but yet they would never give her answers as to why they were. To some readers it may seem that she's being stubborn but unlike her, we know that something is happening that requires Luce to lay low.
This novel had more adventure, answers, questions, romance and just a better air than the last one. I loved that Kate introduced Luce to a new, semi-normal love interest, and I adore all of the new characters she added along with the old ones she brought back. The shadows Luce kept seeing, a.k.a. the Announcers and their purpose was also really cool.
My only miff was the fact that Demon Boy was only in the book for maybe ten total pages! I love CAM! Daniel is nothing compared to that sexy, dark boy. When I was reading and I realized that there was very little Cam, I quickly grew disappointed.
So all in all I'd have to give this novel 4/5 stars just because Cam did a disappearing act.
