Evernight is a high-class boarding school.  But there's something different about Evernight.  And Bianca isn't sure she likes it. 16-year-old Bianca is caught somewhere between the people who fit in and the people who don't.  Lucas is her first friend at Evernight. He falls into the "don't fit in" catergory and seems to like it that way.  But both Bianca and Lucas have dark secrets their hiding.  What happens when the truth is revealed?

Evernight was okay.  From the very beginning of the book, I know the writing could've been better, but I kept reading anyways.  It does seem to get a little better towards the end of the book.  I didn't really like Evernight, but it was definitely worth reading because Stargazer was a million times better.  Evernight requires a slightly more mature reader than Twilight.  I'm using Twilight as a comparison because I know so many people have read it, not because it's anything like Evernight.  Someone who's read  Blue Bloods would probably like Evernight.  Ages 13+.

Before I started Evernight, I was warned that the first 100 or so pages were just setting up the book AND that something odd will happen in the middle that will actually start the novel. Yea, I can see how people might say that.

Let me just say that the part where the novel actually starts...TOTALLY surprised me. I was like: wtf?! I mean, in the beginning, there was absolutely no mention about vampires or anything. But then, all of sudden, right in the middle of the book, bam! Vampires were suddenly everywhere. Totally weird and unexpected.

And it's weird how Bianca made no mention about her vampire parents but instead, just went on and talked about how they liked teaching and stuff. Then, after the breakthrough, she talks about how her parents had always told her from when she was young that she would be a vampire. And she drinks blood everyday. I mean, can you mention that a little ahead of time? It totally messed my brain up.

Anyway, what I did like about the book were some of the characters such as Vic. He's so damn funny and totally laid back. I mean, I just love his character and personality. Such a friendly and out-going guy.

Bianca, well, honestly, I can't really say much about her. I feel like she's still a mysterious character so hopefully the next book will take a better look into her life.

Balthazar is, omg, one of the friendliest [is that word?] guy I ever read about. He's awesome and nice to everyone despite their "status".

Lucas has anger issues. He's easily angered and when he is angered, he blows up in fights. However, I guess his history and background has something to do with it. I just don't really like how he seems to blow up and goes out of his way to annoy people.

For the relationship between Lucas and Bianca, I feel like it's..premature. It's like, they've only known for each other a few months but then they're in love? It's pretty skeptical and unrealistic.
Overall, Evernight was an entertaining book but I hope that Stargazer can pick things up.
