Hi, YABCers!

Today we’re super excited to celebrate the cover reveal for THE INCONCEIVABLE LIFE OF QUINN by Marianna Baer, releasing April 4, 2017 from Amulet. Before we get to the cover, here’s a note from Marianna:

Hi, YABC! I’m so excited to share the cover of THE INCONCEIVABLE LIFE OF QUINN with you.

Quinn’s story has been in my head for ages, so seeing the cover for the first time was a huge moment. I knew that Abrams had hired mega-talented illustrator Christopher Silas Neal, which thrilled me, but I had no idea where he’d go with it—the book has a lot of different imagery that might have worked. When I opened the file, it was like an epiphany: Holy moly—it’s the PERFECT cover! Chris’s stunning illustration perfectly captures the book’s atmosphere and setting, the sense of mystery and possibility of magic . . . And the fact that something I wrote inspired artwork this incredibly BEAUTIFUL . . . well, I feel like I must have done something right! (I also feel like proposing marriage to Chris and the team at Abrams. Is that weird?)

About the Book

Quinn Cutler is sixteen and the daughter of a high-profile Brooklyn politician. She’s also pregnant, a crisis made infinitely more shocking by the fact that she has no memory of ever having sex. Before Quinn can solve this deeply troubling mystery, her story becomes public. Rumors spread, jeopardizing her reputation, her relationship with a boyfriend she adores, and her father’s campaign for Congress. Religious fanatics gather at the Cutlers’ home, believing Quinn is a virgin, pregnant with the next messiah. Quinn’s desperate search for answers uncovers lies and family secrets—strange, possibly supernatural ones. Might she, in fact, be a virgin?

This book sounds nuts! In a good way though!! Just looking at the cover I was thinking “Oh, that’s pretty!” Then “Wait, is she pregnant?” Then mind blown after reading the synopsis.

The colors of the cover are beautiful and the girl floating does link to a deeper meaning. I’m not convinced from this synopsis that the virgin thing would even be remotely believable though.
