Every summer, main characters Joey and Mary Alice go to Grandma Dowdels house. Pretty normal, right? Wrong. Grandma Dowdel is no ordinary grandma. She uses her ultimate wits, skills, and quick thinking to defend her turf while making herself look good. Brace yourself for a ton of humor, mischief, and suspense!

I personally enjoyed this book, because of the unsettling plot points and humor. In a debate, I would argue that this book is a quality piece of literature, but a little too much slang and old grammar uses.

I would recommend this book for those who love humor, mischief, and suspense, being used in the early 1900s. Also, make sure you can understand old time grammar uses and sudden turns of the plot.

A Long Way From Chicago

A Long Way From Chicago is the story of Mary Alice and Joey who go to visit their grandmother every year from 1929-1935 then once more in 1942 Joey sees her one more time on his way to the army. You think that's normal? They help there grandmother trespass, scam, track down a ghost, see a corpse, and even fly in an airplane while in a regular, sleepy Illonois town. This 4-star book is great for kids who love good literuture and adults who want to go back to the good old days.

THis book is about to siblings Joey and Mary Alice who go to visit there odd Grandma in Illianois. This place might seem like a dull area but wait until you see what Joey and Mary encounter. Tresspassing, Corpse, Cheating, Fishing, Ghosts, Scam, and even even flying. I liked this book since it gives you a harty laugh and Grandma just cracks you up. Its a type of an adventurous book. This book is for kids probably above 6 for some of the scary content and maybe even for old people who want to feel the old days again. (Some content is funny while others are sick but overall its a well-written book.

Every summer Joey and his sister Mary Alice go to their grandmoyher's house. Sounds plain now does it well it isn't. Grandma Dowdel is a top notch Granny. She will do any thing to defend her turf. Be prepared for a lot of humor, mischief, & suspense.

Honestly I would say this is a really good book because of the way grandma handles problems. A Long Way from Chicago is a quality piece of literature even though grandma and the citzens all use old grammar.

I would say A Long Way from Chicago is recomended for kids ages 10+  who love humor, mischief, & suspense all in one book. Plese understand that the dialect helps give a turn to the plot.

I think a Long Way from Chicago is a really great book. You would think that it is boring because it has a lot of pages per chapter, but, I think it is exiting because a lot of things happen in each chapter. My favriote chapter is troop train even though it is about three pages long.It was exiting because Joey was going to world war 2 and the train was going by Grandmas house and Grandma was waving to the train because she knew that Joey was on the troop train. This book will be a great book no matter how old it gets. I would recomend this book to middle schoolers that love to read books.

In this book the main character Joey, and his sister, Mary Alice go through a crazy adventure every with their crazy Grandma. In chapters 1-4 I was intrigued by the literature and suspense and felt like I wanted to read forever.

In chapters 5-8 is when the Great depression has begun and so had WW2. It was very intriguing with trickery and love. It is a really great book. Anyone who likes funny, action filled books you will like this book. This book is for someone who loves suspense.

My opinion on this book is some parts of it are really suspenseful and others are sleepy and boring. It has its perks but overall is a really good book.
