From WEBTOON, the #1 digital comic platform, comes unOrdinary, the popular, action-packed series about John, an ordinary teen trying to survive high school in a world where superpowers dictate social status, and betrayal and conspiracies make up every turn.
Nobody pays much attention to John—just a normal teenager at a high school where the social elite happen to possess unthinkable powers and abilities. John prefers it that way. The more he stays under the radar, and stays close to the Royal’s most powerful Ace, Seraphina, the safer he is in the halls of Wellston High.
But John has a secret past that threatens to bring down the school’s whole social order—and much more. And when the other students start to suspect John has something to hide, he becomes their latest target. Suddenly, John is pulled into a world of turf wars, betrayals, and deadly conspiracies.

This webtoon tells the story of a somewhat ordinary teenager that transfers to a high school of students with super abilities. While this premise sounds similar to other superhero high school stories such as Sky High or My Hero Academia this story creates its own unique niche in this genre of stories.

I loved the vibrant illustrations presented on each page. I could tell the care and detail that Uru-chan puts into craft into not only creating an engrossing story but also artwork that is detailed and immersive to the story’s settings. I appreciated all the various character designs and how the story that takes place in a mundane setting is anything but.

Reading this story reminds the reader of the quote “With great power comes great responsibility”. Coming face to face with these students and their super-abilities shows the reader how much power each of them wields. We see this concept played out in a very intense high school hierarchy where superpowers determine your status in school (and society in general). Some use their skills to help others in need, some become power-hungry, and others just intend on fear-mongering/bullying. The intense action-packed scenes put the theme of the story on full display along with John’s ideology of people sharing their power for the better good rather than using it for bad.

This webtoon is equal parts entertaining and thought-provoking! The overall story and cliffhanger left me wanting more after completing the first volume. It has a solid blend of action, suspense, and intriguing characters. Can’t wait to read what will happen next. Fans of superhero stories should add this novel to their reading list!

I'm not a big webtoon reader - more so because I don't like serialized reading. To get a little bit a time and then have to wait just isn't fulfilling to me and then I find myself judging the content too harshly, which isn't fair. So, to say that I'm thrilled unOrdinary came out in a full novel is an understatement. I DEVOURED this book. There was so much I loved about it and just had to continue. The characters, the story, and the art.

All of it came together so well. This definitely was only the beginning and I thought the unfolding of events happened in a great pace. I'm so curious about John's past and what actually happened vs what I think happened. I also am so curious about Seraphina's future. What will happen when she finds out about John?! Because you know it's not going to be from him...

Anyways, I'm so happy this got turned into a physical format in a volume set. I really hope the rest of the series follows suit!

And did I mention how beautiful the artwork is? Because it absolutely needs to be mentioned a hundred times!
