Chase and Ava are ready for their next adventures as Time Jumpers! When Chase touches the dead, green-backed beetle in the suitcase, he and Ava spin through time -- to King Tut's tomb! Now they have to put the beetle back where it belongs. But the man with different color eyes is still chasing them... Why does he want these objects? Chase and Ava need to stay one step ahead of this bad guy. And they need to find some answers! Oriol Vidal's engaging illustrations appear on every page. Newly independent readers will eat up this time-travel series from New York Times bestselling author Wendy Mass.

Time Jumpers: Escape from Egypt offers lengthier chapter book reading, while still offering delightful illustrations more familiar to young readers just beginning to read all on their own.

Large fonts with only a few short paragraphs per page, Time Jumpers is easy reading, yet the story itself suffers for the sake of the reading to learn exercise. The plot and writing feel rushed and poorly planned, which is unfortunate for an adventure book.

I would recommend this book series to parents and teachers looking for easy to read books for children struggling to learn to read—and enjoy reading—on their own. Time Jumpers is a good read-along learning experience to share with your children and students. However, if your young reader loves a good story and reads short books for fun, then another Scholastic Branches book might be a better choice for them.
