What I liked:
The Enthronement is a politically based royalty story that involves rebels, love, and competition. Charity Mae's worldbuilding descriptions of the old city, the palace, and horse draw carriages set the stage. She adds touches of magic and modern inventions like cameras (but calls them impressions), and her characters are fierce and raw.
Final Verdict:
Kascia is a raw, fierce character who feels as if she has lost her identity as a person and becomes the pawn that is prodded, poked, and played with tell she falls in line. Kascia finds that politics aren't always simple, this or that choice. We are either coaching from the sidelines or looking down from on high, and neither side fully sees the whole picture and a fair path to peace. If you're looking for a romanticly filled drama with political tension and a fantasy, pick up the enthronement today.
