When a little green plant falls from the mouth of a bird, it finds its new home on the back of a bear. At first, the bear is annoyed and wants it gone, but the little green thing needs warmth and shelter from the cold. In exchange, the little green thing can offer the bear friendship and good conversations. Soon enough, a friendship blossoms until it's time for the little green thing to move on with the change of seasons.

THE LITTLE GREEN THING teaches that even brief encounters can have a big impact on people's lives. Even though Bear and The Little Green Thing's friendship is short-lived, it gives the seedling the time it needs to grow and Bear a friend he doesn't know he needs. The illustrations are dark and sometimes hard to decipher. It would be better for the green thing to be more of a vibrant color so it stands out against the dark fur of the bear. The friendship is inspiring and makes you look at interactions with others a bit differently because you never know who needs you in that moment.

Final Verdict: Overall, I would recommend this book to fans of animals, stories of an unlikely friendship, and inspirational ones to get you thinking outside of the box.
