This fun book takes youngsters on an amazing journey across our continent and through time to discover all the methods humans have used to get from one place to another. From the first “travelers” who crossed the Bering Land Bridge on foot, through steamships, bicycles, cars, and planes, to contemporary space trips, the history of transportation is one of imagination and ingenuity. This lively journey is spiced up by a cute dog who engages readers with “search and find” questions throughout, while a final spread of amazing “Did You Know” facts presents additional information. Lizann Flatt’s lyrical text and Scot Ritchie’s stunning artwork bring this rich history to life for young readers.

We take traveling for granted, but what did people do in North America before we had bikes, skateboards, cars, buses, planes, and so on? This charming and interesting picture book takes young readers (and those being read to) through the evolution of transportation, beginning with walking as early natives hunted and wandered through a frozen land. As the wilderness warmed, travelers began to use toboggans and snowshoes. They built canoes, and then sailing ships. Step by step, the world and the way we travel through the world changes. The tale ends with rocketships blasting through space, and then some fascinating snippets of travel-related information.

This book is enjoyable to read, and enlivened by delightful illustrations . . .making learning about the history of transportation a fun ride for everyone!
