Emotional Intelligence is a growing subject in children’s books and Kaia’s Big Felines fits in with the topic. Kaia uses different wild cats to relate to her emotions. The illustrations inside the book felt like they were done with great care and precision with the cats depicted. Their emotions and type of cat were engaging. The cover was not as well done with the cat and almost made me pass over the book. This book would work well with younger kids and cat lovers. It goes through common emotions that younger children would be familiar with. It is a bit sparse in showing techniques for dealing with emotions which is why I think younger children who are learning to identify their emotions may benefit more from this book.
