The Ready to Read beginning book featuring the cartoon character, JJ, from Cococmelon, is a great way to get pumped for the first school experience. I like that the words are simple and possible for a young reader to read them with help or after practice. I like that the illustrations give more information than what is said so an older reader could engage in conversations with younger readers about the colors, numbers, letters, and shapes that JJ is learning about. I love the opening and closing pages that give you a practice word page and discussion questions at the end to help a young person make text-to-self connections. Overall, this book is really well done for supporting beginning reading and boosting positive start-of-school vibes.
