Unforgettable, snarky, and romantic, I Hope This Doesn't Find You is Never Have I Ever meets To All the Boys I've Loved Before if Lara Jean wrote hate emails instead of love letters.
Sadie Wen is perfect on paper: school captain, valedictorian, and a "pleasure to have in class." It’s not easy, but she has a trick to keep her model-student smile plastered on her face at all times: she channels all her frustrations into her email drafts. She'd never send them of course -- she'd rather die than hurt anyone's feelings -- but it's a relief to let loose on her power-hungry English teacher or a freeloading classmate taking credit for Sadie's work.

All her most vehemently worded emails are directed at her infuriating cocaptain, Julius Gong, whose arrogance and competitive streak have irked Sadie since they were kids. "You're attention starved and self-obsessed and unbearably vain . . . I really hope your comb breaks and you run out of whatever expensive hair products you've been using to make your hair appear deceptively soft . . ."
Sadie doesn't have to hold back in her emails, because nobody will ever read them . . . that is, until they're accidentally sent out.

Overnight, Sadie’s carefully crafted, conflict-free life is turned upside down. It's her worst nightmare -- now everyone at school knows what she really thinks of them, and they're not afraid to tell her what they really think of her either. But amidst the chaos, there's one person growing to appreciate the "real" Sadie -- Julius, the only boy she's sworn to hate . . . .

Since they were children, Sadie Wen and Julius Gong have been sworn enemies always trying to outdo the other in everything. It doesn't matter what it's related to, sports... school..., it's a competition between the two of them. Sadie wants to be on everyone's good side except for his. She grins and bears a lot of frustrating situations and the way she relieves all of that building stress is by writing emails. Instead of writing in a journal, she creates drafts of emails that tells the person how she really feels with no intention of ever sending them. Until one day when all of a sudden, all of those drafts appear in the recipients inboxes.

After reading how Sadie really feels about most of them, the student body turns against her. All except for her best friend Abigail. When an argument with Julius breaks out during a discussion, Sadie is forced to work on projects with him to help mend their friendship. At least that's what the principal is hoping for, but how can she become friends with someone she hates? Not to mention that Sadie has enough stress from her home life and with her desire to be perfect, she doesn't need this added to her plate. But how can she say no?

I HOPE THIS DOESN'T FIND YOU is a young adult contemporary rom-com that fits perfectly into the enemies to lovers trope. Sadie is such a relatable teen and blames herself for everything that goes wrong, even when it isn't her fault. She wants people to like her and hate when others are mad so the release of the emails gives her a pop test of her character that she didn't have time to study for. Julius has his own secrets that he likes to hide behind a smile and it's intriguing to watch as his layers are peeled back. Abigail is probably my favorite character because she's witty, funny, and always has Sadie's back no matter the situation. She's the friend everyone wishes for.

Final Verdict: Overall, Ann Liang creates a group of characters that the reader can easily fall in love with. This is a rom-com that I can totally see becoming a Netflix movie and I'm ready for it. I would recommend this to fans of contemporary romances... especially TO ALL THE BOYS because it reminded me of it but in its own unique way. I look forward to reading more books by Ann Liang.
