HONEY, I LOVE is a sweet and loving walk through a young girl's day. Eloise Greenfield structures her words in a way that begs for them to be sung, not spoken. There is an internal rhythm and progression that carries on page after page. Our young protagonist is full of love, laughter, and appreciation for the little things about life. She describes her everything from her cousin's southern drawl to playing in cold water on a hot summer day to playing with a doll. It is a wonderous way to look at the world with such attention to detail.

Jan Spivey Gilchrist's artwork captures the brightness and joy in Greenfield's work. The colors are warm and make the reader feel like they're part of the story. My favorite one was the narrator surrounded by water. She says, "HONEY, let me tell you/that I LOVE a flying pool/I love to feel a flying pool and".

HONEY, I LOVE is pure poetry. Perfect for parents to share with their kids.
