We do not know why Henry is a snail without slime. Henry tries everything he can think of to compensate for not having slime. Getting stronger on his own helps but only gets him so far. To truly reach his potential he sometimes needs to be ok with asking for help. In exchange, there are special things he has learned that he can teach others. Together everyone's lives are better and more successful. At the heart of the story is the message about overcoming adversity and the importance of community. I liked the illustrations as well as the message. Henry climbing with his eye stalks was cute and furthered my engagement with the story. Overall, this was a great book to use when teaching themes about disabilities, perseverance, and community.
