Each animal exclaims that they have lost a sock which makes for an expressive book to read aloud. I like the rhyming sentence each animal has combined with higher-level words such as “perturbed” which has good context clues to help learn the new word. The ending is very cute and would allow for a discussion with your little one about what should happen next. There is also a bonus chance at the end to play a memory game to match the missing sock with the animal it belonged. This is great for stimulating the ability to pay attention to details and using the illustrations to aid comprehension. Overall, this is a fun board book with great age-appropriate comprehension skills perfect for the Toddler-Preschool age group.
