What I liked:
Adventure, gender-bending retelling, antiheroes, magic, fantasy, creatures, animal companions, unique charm, monsters, competitive competition, slow-burn romance, and some music. A Game of Strength and Storm blew my expectations out of the water, and I was not expecting to enjoy this book that I requested to review on a whim. Castor and Gen are two enemies who have goals that are impossible to achieve without the Goddesses granting them. One wants her family back the other wants to change an archaic law that prevents her from ruling when her father passes.
Final Verdict:
A Game of Strength and Storms has a unique magic system where you have MindMagiers (Gen) and StromCasters (Pollux and Castor), and both will come in handy to complete the tasks laid out by the Goddesses. If you enjoy books with unique competitions where the outcome can change everything, then pick this book up and hold on to your seats for book two.
