Pierre and Frankfurt have lived happily together in their top-floor apartment since the first day they met. Frankfurt is the most refined little dog you can imagine. He drinks tea without the slightest slurp, he never gobbles his food, and he arranges his toys and scarves according to size and color. But there is one thing that really upsets Frankfurt—his name! How could anyone ever take a wiener dog seriously with a name like that? But with Pierre’s help, Frankfurt might just have a plan . . .

What I Loved:
-The adorable Frankfurt- What this picture book does best is offer a truly adorable and humorous dog that picture book readers will love. The expressions and mannerisms are sure to remind readers of their own pets if they have any.

-The illustrations- Though the illustrations aren't typically what you might find in a picture book, their originality offers an interesting artistic style for kids (and adults) to take in. The colors are loud and fun, and the artist has a talent for capturing expressions.

What Left Me Wanting More:
-The story- Since this is a picture book, it feels odd to say the story takes a while to get going, but around halfway, I was still wandering when the issue of Frankfurt's name was going to come up. The majority of the story is explaining what a good relationship Frankfurt and his owner have, then the name problem seems to come towards the end.

Final Verdict:
While the story is a bit lacking, the unique illustrations and Frankfurt himself make this an enjoyable picture book. Highly recommended for: dog lovers and kids interested in different artistic expressions.
