my daughter got me reading this book after she was done with it and once i started i couldn't put it down. as a parent i really wished that more teens and parents would take the time to read this book to understand how what this drug can do to a person and how easy it is to get hooked on it once it is introduce to you. the ones that are easy target are the ones who have problems dealing with either family or maybe they fill they just don't feel worthy of themselves. but they have to be strong. but they have to say "no" to the "monster" or else!

In the book Crank, a girl named Kristina goes to her dad's house over the summer. Her parents are divorced. At first she feels out of place because she lives in a suburban area and her dad lives basically in a broke down city. Kristina was walking down her dad's hallway in his apartment place and runs into this boy named Adam. Adam gets Kristina to try this drug named Crank and while she is at her dad's house she becomes addicted to the drug. When Kristina does this drug, she turns into her "alternate personality" named Bree. Bree is wild and carefree and does whatever she feels like doing at that moment. At the end of the summer she goes back to her mom's house and by this time Kristina is addicted to crank, is dating Adam, and starting to date this new guy. Her new boyfriend also uses crank, so Kristina is still on this drug. She starts doing bad in school and making bad decisions. One of her bad decisions ended up getting her raped by this life guard that works at the community pool. Kristina winds up pregnant and on this twisted road of bad decisions, lies, deceit, and trouble. I think this is an awesome book that people should at least try to read once.

I have previously read Impulse and Burned, and in my opinion, this book came up short for me.  It's about Kristina, who is a good girl - gets good grades, has good friends, loyal to her family, etc.  She begs her mom to let her go spend some time with her dad (who has been missing from her life for most of her life) and this turns out to be a bad idea.  She meets a hot bad boy Adam there, and she starts calling herself Bree.  Not only does she call herself Bree, she insists Bree has been in her all along, and is the total opposite of Kristina.  Bree is a bad girl.  I disliked the way she jumps right into doing crank.  There is no thinking it over on her part, she does it just to do it with Adam.  I also dislike the way that throughout the book, she talks about how great crank is, how it makes you feel like Heaven, but when she talks about crashing or withdrawing, it lacks depth.  The book talks more about how great it is, and less about how bad it is.  Anyway, she comes back home and starts failing school, cutting class, hanging out with a bad crowd.  She meets two new boys Chase and Brendan.  Brendan is the guy who you can take home to mom and mom feels safe, although in reality Brendan is not a great trustworthy guy.  Chase is the boy from the wrong side of town with a bad rep, who turns out to be the better man of the two.  Kristina goes through some awful experiences, but stays constant with the crank.  I am hoping that the sequel, Glass, which I started today, makes up for the disappointment I felt after reading this book.

Read and learn all the troubles of a girl who is lead into the life of drugs
Raped and left with a baby she learns to turn her life around
A book that i will read until i die

Kristina is a good person, up until her senior year. She goes to stay with her dad. She takes on a whole other person, named Bree. She gets involved, with drinking, drugs, boys, and becomes wild. When she goes back home, nothing changes in her quiet little town, with her anyways. Her need for crystal meth (crank) is ongoing.

Crank was one of the most disturbing books I have ever read, but I just couldn't put in down. It was really good in a chilling way. I liked how the author used verse to tell her somewhat true story.

Crank is about a girl, Kristina who goes and visits her dad. While there she meets Buddy and they fall in love. Then he introduces her to the monster, Crank. Kristina is gone and Bree is born, her alter-ego. When she has to go back home, she learns that she cannot live without the monster and she does anything to get it.

I decided to read CRANK because i had nothing else to read nad my sister kept telling me how great the book was. CRANK is honestly one of the best books I've read, even though I generally like more "happy" books. The writing stlye is amazing and even, though it was a little hard for me at times, it made the book just that much more enjoyable.
