In Covet, Savannah has to break up with Tristan in order to uphold the promise she made to the Vampire Council and the Clann. Now, Tristan and Savannah are once again on opposite sides of the war brewing due to distrust and some Clann deaths. Add to that, Savannah is coming into her vampire abilities stronger than ever and even her bloodlust is developing. A meddlesome vampire sent by the council is also not helping matters.

In this book, we see more of Savannah's development into a full-fledged vampire as well as her exercising her witch powers. She actually develops more of a personality too - ready to stand up to the Clann bullies. Tristan is dealing with the political ramifications of his relationship with Savannah and between the problems each of them is facing and misunderstandings emerging between them, they are driven apart in spite of their steady feelings for each other. At the start of the book, even I was feeling hopeless for them - she was dangerous to him and his being Clann meant he would have to leave his family. Without giving much away, all I can say is that the ending was a bit convenient - why didn't they just test it out before? Also, I found a few plot holes like how her gaze-daze doesn't seem to work on anybody in this book. Also, how did Gowin resist the temptation of Clann blood? Really hope to see these answered in the next book.

“I’m not perfect. And I don’t have to be. I can figure it out as I go, and as long as I do the best I can, it’s okay if I still screw up.”
? Melissa Darnell, Covet

Savannah’s world is getting complicated beyond imaging. On top of finding out she is a Dhampir, she fell in love with the one boy she shouldn’t. When Savannah and Tristan return from the “test” that the Vampire Council forced upon her, they get a shocking surprise.

The Clann retailed against Savannah and the Vampire Council by kidnapping Savannah’s Grandmother. Savannah rushes to free her Grandmother, but in the end she was too late.

Tristan cannot contain the helplessness and rage in the face of Savannah’s Grandmother’s death at the hands of The Clann. Savannah breaks up with Tristan to keep him safe. Tristan is not ready to give up on them, but Savannah will not be swayed.

Savannah decides it is time for her to learn to use the magic that is apart of her blood. Will it learning to use magic endanger her and the ones she loves? Or will she become a power to be reckoned with?

Dive into the world of The Clann and see if Savannah has what it takes to stand up to the Descendants, and find a way to be with the one she loves.
Good Points
I like that the characters have real issues and that Savannah wants to do whatever she can to protect the ones that she loves.

Thank you Netgalley and HarlequinTeen for the ARC.

Okay people,I know that you're really freaked out by the cover but I'll ask you to give this one a chance. In fact,as much as I am ashamed to admit it,the reason that I actually agreed to read/review this book even though I gave the first one a two star rating was solely because of the cover(and because I can't go on leaving a series unfinished -_-). The cover had a sort of repelling attraction on me,if that even makes sense.I guess I always like chasing after the unique ;). Well, HarlequinTeen's done a pretty good job with being unique with this cover,so a round of applause to them!

Okay, are we done with the applause? So let's get on to the main part.I won't even try to deny the fact that this book's extremely cheesy and that the characters in it are extremely immature.Seriously, forbidden love, with both the guy and the girl and going all Romeo and Juliet?Puh-leassseee!!!!I've read this so much and of course not to mention the fact that this book contains vampire romance, which makes me scrunch up my nose nowadays as if it's like some sort of garbage dump.(The Immortal Rules by Julie Kagawa is an exception.)
I know that you're wondering that even after complaining so much, why did I give this book a four-star rating? It's all in the writing style. The author has a way with words, which draws you inside and gives you a clear concept of what she wants you to see. It's like you know that the story's not that promising, but you just can't seem to put it down!Your traitorous mind bugs at you,and you stay up all night to finish the book in one sitting.I'm talking about my own experiences. So all you authors out there, you should really follow Melissa Darnell's example.Though it may not seem like much, but the way you write has a lot to do with what readers think of your books.Look at Covet for example. In Crave,I didn't like anything about the story. The writing wasn't that exceptional either.I honestly didn't see a four star rating coming for this one,at least not from me.But look at that!Sometimes the impossible does seem to be possible! So I'm absolutely thrilled for Melissa Darnell and have set high expectations for her.Definitely reading Consume!Who knows?Maybe she might have even more surprises in store for me.

P.S To Melissa Darnell if you're reading this review or ever come across it,I really am sorry that I couldn't enjoy Crave as much as I enjoyed Covet. But then again, people have different tastes right? :)
