CARING FOR EARTH is a clever interactive and educational book about helping the Earth and planting gardens. The book walks children through a few themed pages, teaching about forest gardens, vegetable gardens, natural homes, and ways to practice permaculture. The pages include lift-the-flaps, pull tabs, wheels, and a pop-up for more ways to explore throughout.

What I loved: This is a book that children who love to learn with their hands will enjoy. Each page spread features at least one cool, interactive element for children to explore. Short sentences and key labels help to keep the information focused and clear as young readers learn about nature and how to help Earth. Some of the coolest elements are the large pop-up forest and the wheel that turns to show how a tree changes during the seasons, but there are so many really fun ones! The illustrations are focused with lots of detail on each page spread to capture the different elements being discussed throughout, and text is located next to the images that describe it. The book does not have to be read linearly, which is great for children who love to explore as different things peak their interest.

What left me wanting more: This is a tough book to read aloud, as the font is very tiny. On the flip side, it does allow for more information to be conveyed throughout, but this will be a better one for young children who can read themselves, as their eyes are better at capturing those small fonts!

Final verdict: CARING FOR EARTH is a fun and interactive book that teaches children about gardening and ways to be green. Recommend for young, independent readers.
