CALL US WHAT WE CARRY is a stunning collection of poetry that encompasses a variety of topics from the pandemic to war to ongoing social concerns. The breadth and variety of styles is striking with clever use of form to convey emotion and different topics. The poetry is quite potent with powerful and thought-provoking messages throughout. There were several poems that I found personally impactful, and throughout, I think there are different poems that will speak to different people in their own ways.

The poems can be read in any order, and I found it most poignant when picking them up over time and digesting them slowly. These would be fantastic for a book club to discuss and explore. Gorman is quite insightful and gifted with words - the style is certainly unique even across topics and formats, bringing them together into a thoughtful and powerful collection that is definitely worth exploring. Highly recommend picking this one up!
