What I liked:
The Blood Circus premise tells you it is a vicious "Hunger Games" where you fight for your life in competitions that will end you in a circus setting. The author gives a race of creatures that could be a saving grace for this desolate version of our world but are instead our enemies. Their claws and bones can fertilize barren soil, and their meat is super protein. I liked that this was not a circus story and was action-packed with plenty of twists and thrills that will keep you reading. The author does have a message in there about racism and doing your research about what you have been told about other cultures.
Final Verdict:
If you like dystopian fantasy books not about a circus, gladiator-esque, climate change setting, and wolves, this may intrigue you. Instead, the book is geared toward fans of hunger games and gladiator-type sets. Camila Victoire is a debut author, so I will be interested to see what else she offers us to read.
