Release Date: August 25, 2015

About the Book

Asylum meets Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children, in this riveting tale of ghosts, secrets, and family, from master of suspense Katie Alender.

Delia’s new house isn’t just a house. It used to be an insane asylum, a place to lock up “troubled” young women long ago. And a restless, wicked spirit is still at play–and it doesn’t want defiant girls like Delia to go anywhere.
So the house kills her.

Now Delia is a ghost, trapped in her creepy home forever. As she meets the other ghost girls who haunt the narrow hallways, as well as the handsome ghost boy on the grounds, she learns shocking truths about the house’s history. Delia also realizes that her alive and grieving sister might be the house’s next target. Can Delia unlock the mystery of the old asylum, save her sister, and free herself?

I always enjoy The Legend of Sleepy Hollow and read it every year for Halloween!

  7. Kara S says:

Stephen King’s The Stand creeped me out because of the exceptionally vividly drawn Villain (capital V definitely needed). 🙂 I haven’t read any good ones in a while though….

  13. Stacy says:

I grew up reading Stephen King, and he will always be the master of horror to me! I have not read much YA horror or ghost stories, the few things that I have read have failed to live up to my expectations. I love the Miss Peregrine series, but I don’t really think of that as horror.

  14. bn100 says:

    no fav

  15. Sandy Steckler says:

I’ve always liked Dean Koontz, his stories were always layered. I read a lot of Kings books growing up but nothing really scared me. The story with the mirror and saying Mary, Mary into it left an impression upon me. Oh, I really liked The Cube, not a scary story but suspenseful. Being locked inside this object with other individuals as they tried to escape, each room closing as they exit it. An oldie but a goodie.

I love the miss peregrine books by ransom Riggs.
