A Kid’s Guide to the American Revolution is full of intriguing facts and details about the struggle that gave birth to our great nation. From the origin of each of the original thirteen colonies to the onset of the Revolutionary War, A Kid’s Guide is an excellent educational resource, and an enjoyable read about the very foundation of the world we Americans live in today. (And a great reminder of the freedom we sometimes take for granted.)
The sketched illustrations add such a wonderful ambience that brings to mind the journals of the founding fathers. I do wish some of these were a bit bigger to engage younger readers and give them a stronger visual to focus on.
Readers will also find interesting details about key figures during one of the most tumultuous periods of our history as well as quotes, or “wise words,” from current day politicians. Additionally, young readers will learn about the reasons the colonies wanted and needed independence from the British Monarchy, how integral the Boston Tea Party was to the onset of the war, and the development of the Declaration of Independence, which still influences our lives and civil rights today.
Intended for ages 8 to 12, A Kid’s Guide to the American Revolution is an important addition to your child’s academic library. It is so important to give the young minds of today a strong connection to their roots, and a sense of pride and patriotism for their country.
