I have to admit I bought this book because of the cute cover and pictures inside. I know you shouldn't judge a book that way, but who could resist the cute little illustrations? The story does not disappoint either.

The book follows the new trend of, if you can't be the rich Gossip Girl type, then you somehow fit in as the scholarship, fly under the radar best friend of a rich girl.

Imogene is that shcoalrship girl and she wants desperately to land an internship working at a fashion forecasting agency. She getsthe position and learns the girl she is to report to is the one she was rude to and caused a problem with the night before. Add to that the girl is kissing the guy she was making otuwith last night and who still has her cell phone. You just know things won't go well when the evil senior intern tells her that if she wants to talk to the head person she must got thru her 1st.

You can see where the plot is going before it gets there, but it is a fun read & like I said, the illustrations really do make the book.

Its rare to saythis about a YA book, but the best part of this book was the illustrations on the pages. It added something to the story! However, the story was also good as Imogene tells you she's been using her McDonald's money and creativity to keep up with the richer kids in her class.

I liked the background of Imogene's mom marrying for love, not money & how that impact Imogene. I also loved how they transformed the fast food menu to be more chic thanks to a professional chef healping.

This book was entertaining and fun and I hope that it becomes a series.

"Imogene is obsessed with fashion. Combine that with her talent for trouble (aka maxing out her "emergencies only" AmEx) and suddenly she's not going to chere Paris with her best friend for the summer. No, she must do the unthinkable for a stylish Greenwhich girl such as herself - get a job.

Resourceful as always, Imogene works her connections and lands a dream internship at a fashion forcasting agency in NY. Now she's lunching at Serendipity, first on the line at Barney's warehouse sale, and skoshing seats at fashion week.

But when Imogene's dream is threatened by a cute Italian boy and one very evil intern, she questions what she really wants. And she learns that even in fashion, being true to yourself and following your dreams can go hand in hand."

This book was pretty good, but not my favorite. Imogene was kind of ridiculous and I can't really see any of the events happening in "real life". But if you're looking for a cute, light read... this could be the book for you. I especially liked the little illustrations on the sides of pages... Be warned, this book is very predictable!
