Delightful holiday board book

ELFIE SELFIE is a delightful and interactive holiday-themed board book. An elf is wandering around the North Pole, taking pictures of the animals and people they see. Each page features a rhyming line about the subject of the photo before asking the reader to imagine and recreate what they think the face would look like in the mirror. For instance, what would the face of a Snowman who feels the cold wind blowing look like? Children are invited to imagine and explore, with a mirror to enjoy the outcome. Others include Santa ho-ho-ho-ing, polar bears, reindeer, and smiling elves.

What I loved: This is a really charming, non-religious holiday board book. The rhyming phrases make this a fun one to read, and I loved the interactive nature of the mirror, combined with the skills of decoding faces and empathy that are employed when children are invited to imagine the faces of the different scenarios. Each page features the mirror as the face of the subject and plenty of bright colors and fun ideas to explore around the North Pole. This is perfect for toddlers and even preschoolers who love to look at faces and see their own. With the touch of imaging the expressions of the different scenarios, it’s also a simple learning tool.

Final verdict: A charming and interactive board book, ELFIE SELFIE celebrates the holiday season with rhyming delight! Recommend for toddlers and preschoolers, but even babies will enjoy this fun board book read.
