I’m Jenetta, and I get a lot of out of the blue ideas… like adopting kids and writing a novel.

But why should life be boring? Not that you have to adopt kids or write a novel for your life to be exciting.

I’ve learned so much since the end of 2014. I’m not completely sure what spurred it but at the time I simply had afire litunderneath me. I realized that unless you set out to do something, really do something, it won’t ever getdone.

Life is too busy, and it will wash over you until you realize you never got anything done you wanted to.

So my advice? Make your life happen or it will just happen to you.

I live in the lovely Southern California area with my Hubby and my two beautiful daughters (whom which without,I neverwould have had the inspiration for my story).

Right now, I am in the process of writing my first novel, Broken/Beautiful World:

In exchange for love, uniqueness and free will, the government has bestowed the human race with health, prosperity and a promisingfuture.

Over one hundred years after a virus called Aves decimated the earth’s population the remaining survivors thrivein the safety of the city,away from the death and destruction of the Outerbounds. Divided into three Levels ofIntelligence Potential, Citizens focus solely on duty.

But on her eighteenth birthday and the day she becomes a true Citizen Avlyn receives an odd message, lose yourlife, and you might find it,from a mysterious stranger. Avlyn has always wanted more and secretly longs to join therebellion. Is this the chance she has been lookingfor?

A better life may await her, but if she says yes will she lose it all?

As publishing it gets closer I will let you know, so please be on the lookout!

YABC:   Can you tell our readers about yourself and your blog?

My name is Jenetta Penner, and I blog about young adult books at JenettaPenner.com.  The blog tends to be somewhat lighthearted with book recommendations, reviews and fun articles on YA book topics (fantasy and sci-fi, in particular).

YABC:   Describe how did you first get into blogging?

I have blogged full time since 2008 on an entirely different topic than books.

My very first blog was wedding related, as I was a wedding photographer at the time.  That particular blog did not work out, but it taught me a lot about the business of blogging. I went on to blog in a lifestyle niche and have done that ever since.  And now I have added book blogging to my repertoire.

YABC:   What type of networking do you think is better to enhance your traffic to the blog?

Networking is super important in blogging.  It allows you to connect with other bloggers in your niche, participate in joint projects and even promote one another.  It also makes blogging more fun.

An excellent way to do this is to gather a small group of like-minded bloggers in your niche and start a Facebook group together.  You can keep up with each other’s daily lives, share posts and plan projects.  I love having that kind of “water cooler experience.” And on top of that, you gain a group of people you care about a lot.

YABC:   What do you think is the best strategy that worked well for you to get more traffic to your blog?

I’m a big believer in Pinterest.  Over the last year, it has changed a lot, and traffic has decreased, but it’s still a great traffic source.  Giveaways are also good if you keep them narrowed to your ideal blog reader.

YABC:   What do you find the most frustrating aspect of blogging?

There is just not enough time in the day.

YABC:   Can you tell me some of your strengths that helped you in blogging?

For starting my book blog it was my experience running my lifestyle blog.  Over the years I have tried a lot of things to grow traffic.  Some have worked, and some haven’t.  When I started JenettaPenner.com, I knew the first thing I needed to do was get people on my email list.  So I made a pretty irresistible email opt-in and started gathering emails.  I also have run several giveaways to grow the same list.

My email readers are fabulous.  I know if I send out a newsletter they will be ready to take action!

YABC:   Tell me about your proudest achievement?

My proudest achievement in the world of books has to be writing one.  I’ve just wrapped up my first novel, and it will launch this month.

YABC:   How do you manage time to run your blog efficiently? What?

People efficiently manage their time? Ha… That’s a tough one, especially because I have to balance my life, two blogs, and being an author (seriously… what was I thinking?).  I’m not saying I’m always successful… but my best tool is making lists.  It’s good to check off all my daily and weekly tasks, knowing at least SOME of it is getting done.

YABC:   Where would you like to be in blogging five years from now?

I hope to be still doing what I am doing and connecting with more of my readers on a personal level.

And if you want them my Facebook page is https://www.facebook.com/JenettaPennerAuthor/ and Twitter- https://twitter.com/JenettaPenner
