Forget Godzilla. Forget the giant beasties karate-chopped into oblivion by endless incarnations of Ultraman, Kamen Rider, and the Power Rangers. Forget the Pocket Monsters. Forget Sadako from 'The Ring' and that creepy all-white kid from 'The Grudge.' Forget everything you know about tales of terror before reaching for this book. Yokai Attack! is a nightmare-inducing one-stop guide to Japan's traditional creepy-crawlies and monsters. It will surely convince you that Japan's tradition of fascinating monsters is a long one—yet far from being history.

This book is a one-stop-shop for all of your Japanese monster research needs! Every entry provides essential information (name, pronunciation, alternate names, gender, height, weight, location, weapons, weaknesses and MORE) along with that particular monster's claim to fame. There are descriptions of the monster's attack, tips on how to survive, and a host of other fascinating details--all of which combine to make this a thoroughly comprehensive and entertaining guide to Japanese monster mythology! Each entry also includes illustrations, and while I wasn't as taken with the artwork as I wish I had been, it serves its purpose in giving readers an idea of what each monster looks like.
