What I liked:
A Bright God and A Pale God are brothers that have chosen humans to fight their battle for control and destruction of the world. Alike is desperate to convince Valeria that she is just a pawn, but she only knows that she has the power to save her people from a life of slavery at the hands of a cruel man. The development of Val's emotional trauma is so strong it leaps off the page, the romance between her and Alik is bittersweet, and the gruesome outcome of the war is raw and honest.
Final Verdict:
This duology is young adult fantasy at its best, and I loved the descriptions, the well-depicted character portrayals, and the rawness of emotion that kept me engaged. The series is so good. I wish there were just one more book that shows how these two places can survive after the destruction of everything they know under the thumb of these two Gods.
